We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Farah Mohammad. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Farah below.

Farah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

Wanting to be your own boss is something that I believe most of us strive for. We want to love what we do, and we want to be successful at it. The hardest part of any journey is always starting, there will always be excuses or a better time, but it is all about taking them leap. It all started one day, I was video chatting my friend, who I met online, about an idea I had to one day start up my own small business. How I wanted to create niched merchandise for like minded adults, creating minimalistic designs, striving for comfort and inclusivity. It was crazy, because she basically was able to finish my sentences. Believe it or not she was feeling the exact same way. We sat and talked about our dreams and they lined up, almost like we were meant to find each other for the purpose of starting this business together. How crazy that someone I just met online, and not even in person yet, would become my co owner, of our small business.

We had drive like no other, our ideas built up each others and complimented the others perfectly. We were about to give life to an idea we both held in our minds for so long. From that day on we had weekly meetings, and then endless voice memos everyday.

Farah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

The most important thing about me and forming my brand, was creating a safe space for anyone who came across my corner of the internet. Magic and Rose (my internet persona) was a page that was created to bring magic and joy to the average person. Creating fun, relatable, and uplifting content, that would be a pocket of joy to someone’s day. My page is judgement free zone and a place where you can love what you love, without fear of being torn down. If you love Disney, that’s amazing, if you are more into books, you are welcome too! Growing up I was always so ashamed to admit that I loved the magic of Disney. There is so much negativity towards “Disney Adults” , but finding a community that loves and supports what I share has given me the confidence I never thought I would have. I have found and met some of the most amazing people from my page. I have come to the point that if something makes me happy, I need to be proud of it. The world is too dark to cast judgment on ourselves. And if I allowed my followers to feel safe I wanted to as well. Once I grew my following and had made some amazing connections with other humans, I felt like it was time to take the leap to create a small business and bring even more magic to others.

Adventure Outpost was created April 2022, and has been bringing magic to so many homes. We strive to create inclusive gear, that anyone can wear or use. We offer gender neutral clothing, that is not only comfy but also size inclusive, which can be hard to do for a small business. We currently offer sizes XSmall – 5XLarge in our shop, but even more importantly if that does not work for our consumers, we will personally find a way to make a product that will! We also offer all our products at one price, no matter the size! I am so proud that we have built an amazing group of humans who support our brand, and that number grows everyday! We truly feel so blessed. Our designs are ideas that we come up with all organically and the designs are so unique and creative, we can guarantee you will find items in our shop that you have never seen before. We have had 100% positive 5 Star reviews, which again truly blow our mind. To us, we wanted to start strong, and only go up from there. We have released several designs this year, and have no plans of slowing down!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

On my original page Magic and Rose, I grew my following from consistently sharing engaging content. I started my page a little over one year ago, and I have posted everyday since. I post a mix of reels and photos. I try and create genuine and unique content. I really don’t fit a cookie cutter mold, and create content that makes me happy. I think people can see that I am a real person, who is far from perfect, but in a way that’s more relatable than the latter. I also strive to make genuine relationships with my followers. I always say my DMs are open, and I mean it. I want to be more of a friend than an influencer. Growing my following, has assured me that I am doing something right.

Thankfully a lot of my followers are so amazing and they support all my endeavors, so most of them follow and supported Adventure Outpost. Of course that isn’t where we wanted to stop. So we continually are pushing out new and refreshing content.

To someone just starting out I would say be consistent. It can be discouraging when your posts don’t go viral, or doesn’t start blowing up right away. I always think of it like a blessing, and everything good takes time, and sometimes it’s better to start slow. You learn from your mistakes, and you will have time to learn how to manage your shop! Just don’t give up during the slow parts, and you will create wonder and success!

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.

I met my co owner on Instagram of all places. We both were content creators in the same niche! We actually built our friendship ironically on a disagreement. There was one ride at Disney World that she hated, and I loved, we argued intensely about it! It was all in good fun, and we were laughing so hard. that we decided we were going to make it a little series of our disagreements, but we had discovered that we were too alike, and that was just about the only thing we disagreed on! It was almost comical, but a friendship was born.

We clicked instantly from there, and became best friends living cross country! We basically talk everyday, and she pretty much has me convinced to move to Orlando. And now we are also cofounders to Adventure Outpost LLC! It is insane to be living out your dream with a best friend who is equally excited with you. There is something magical to be said about that!
