We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fansu Njie. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fansu below.
Alright, Fansu thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Fear is always about something that hasn’t happened yet.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Fansu Njie, a Swedish film director with a career spanning about two decades. Throughout my journey, I’ve drawn inspiration from a diverse range of genres, including Westerns, Martial Arts films, and Sci-Fi horrors, which have creatively influenced my modern approach to filmmaking. Martial Arts training and philosophy have played a significant role in shaping my discipline and work ethics.
My extensive portfolio includes numerous TV commercials, music videos, and shorts, many of which have received critical acclaim. Some notable works include the multi award-winning “Bad Dreams” , and a long list of award-winning shorts.
In 2011, I had the opportunity to produce and direct the action-packed Scandinavian feature “Last Man Down.” The trailer went viral, garnering worldwide interest with millions of views in just a few weeks. This tremendous buzz translated into immediate success, as the film secured worldwide sales. “Last Man Down” was released by Saban Films in the US and UK and later made available on Netflix and SF Studios in Scandinavia. The film quickly climbed the ranks, reaching #3 on Netflix’s top-10 list in the UK, #8 in US and subsequently making its way into the top 10 in all major international markets.
My work discipline, long preparation, and love for details have made me into what I am today. As one of my favorite quotes states,” Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
To receive and hear what the audience thinks of something I have created. Those moments are pure magic.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
“If you never give up, you never lose.”
My current mission is turning my latest released novel “Senja Chronicles” into a tv-series. An action-packed adventure book set in and around Northern Norway’s fabled Segla Mountain. This 550-page book is filled with stunning illustrations and a thrilling story about a Scandinavian hunter’s daughter being kidnapped during a home invasion, leading to an exclusive NATO special ops unit uncovering old Norse legends and cave-dwelling trolls. Available exclusively on Amazon Books as hard cover and ebook.
I am also working on the sequel to “Last Man Down.” It will be much bigger, tougher, and even more badass than the first one. Follow me on social media for more updates regarding these projects.
