We were lucky to catch up with Fanny Mandelberger recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Fanny, thanks for joining us today. How did you get your first job in the field that you practice in today?
I had a private massage therapy client, an actor/musician who referred me to the MTV shooting of Rim Tug Tugger number from Cats, the Andrew Lloyd Weber Broadway musical. Next thing I know I was asked to be the company massage therapist for the entire run of the show, over 3 decades! What a gift to educate on injury prevention, energy conservation, flexibility, and diaphragmatic breathing. Those client relationships to this day have yielded entrees into other theatres, dance, film, fashion, and music communities.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Bringing a holistic wellness approach in clinical, theatrical, end-of-life care, film sets, pre & post-natal has been a passion of mine since my youth. And I feel most fortunate to have attracted purposeful ways of service through my skills and entrepreneurship

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I come from a courageous lineage of holocaust survivors. My parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles modeled “not to sweat the small stuff” and that life is a precious gift and to embrace it with kindness, compassion, service, fearlessness, love and adventure. I know that’s why I chose my profession or it chose me, to model to clients and patients that they are equipped to thrive and not be defined by their circumstances.
Resiliency is in my bones!

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
We are all in this together mindset. Life is short and precious. Be curious, kind and stay connected. We learn from each other of all cultures, diversity and it enriches us!
