Today we’d like to introduce you to Fanchon Jones
Hi Fanchon , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My first love and passion is and always will be the love for culinary arts. One of my undergrad degrees is in the field of culinary arts and the other is in the field of business management. After working in the culinary field for more than 10 years. I learned throughout that time that I also really enjoy helping people. I have three children of my own. However over the last 5 years I’ve mentored more than 100 teenagers and young adults. Many of which still contact me on holidays and special occasions. To my surprise I have become a mother figure for many people and it has been very rewarding watching them grow into their own, settle into their lives and careers. I currently work in the H R field for a major restaurant chain and my focus is on cultivating and retaining talent while strengthening culture thus creating a better team member experience for all of the Doing this has allowed me to get out in the community and meet with people while shining a light on the vast differences of all of the generations that are currently in the workforce. I’ve learned to embrace and capitalize on these differences. I also have a family business that my sisters and I have been working tirelessly to build. Educating our communities on the purpose and need for life insurance and other financial services that are often overlooked especially in the black community. We are now licensed to do business in three states. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Georgia. We educate on the need, not only to protect your family in the event of loss but also financial literacy, generational wealth, and creating financial freedom through multiple streams of income. I encourage anyone interested to please reach out for more information.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has certainly not been a smooth road for me at all. I have encountered many personal as well as professional obstacles. That has delayed me in many ways. But like I always say “a delay is not a denial”. So I continue to push forward and persevere. If I’m being honest my biggest hurdle currently is Time management. Trying to find the balance to execute professional goals for both my full-time job as well as my business and not miss important family engagements has become exhausting. Sometimes I feel everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I used to always say that I was struggling to find the balance. However I recently attended a very informative seminar and learned that there’s really no such thing as work-life balance. The more I thought about it the more it made sense to me. It is very difficult to balance everything perfectly at once. There will be some days you have to give more in some areas and some days that you can afford to give less in some areas in order to yield the best result. I’m currently transitioning my mindset so that I can pour into the people that depend on me such most while being the best version of myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
In March of 2024 I realized that I wanted to take helping people to a new level. So I had a conversation with my sister and she encouraged me to become licensed in my state in order to offer life insurance and other financial services to many people that I come in contact with. Since I find helping others rewarding and learned that I could get paid well in doing it. I decided to take the required classes, become certified and then become licensed. In April of 2024 myself along with two of my sisters were licensed insurance agents in our states. We later attended a convention in Atlanta and partnered together in order to build our business as a team. We feel that it’s important for us to leave something important for our children that they can inherit and grow themselves. My sister’s and I come from very caring professional backgrounds. Where we have helped to heal and grow many people and we apply that same caring and nurturing aspect to our business. We understand the various things that can occur in a modern family so we use that in our approach to do business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’m a believer so I can’t say that good or bad luck has had much to do with what has taken place so far. God has a plan for me and he has placed some awesome people in my life to help me learn and grow in both my personal as well as my professional development.
