We were lucky to catch up with Faith Streng recently and have shared our conversation below.
Faith, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One deeply underappreciated facet of entrepreneurship is the kind of crazy stuff we have to deal with as business owners. Sometimes it’s crazy positive sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?
As I was in the beginning stages of planning to host my first retreat by myself, my husband and I received an unexpected financial gift that allowed us for the first time to consider becoming homeowners. We never thought we would be in that situation. It wasn’t quite in reach yet, but with a few tweaks it would be.
I had to consider dropping the retreat. It would require hefty monthly payments, with the understanding that the money from attendees would be coming in to me to support them, but I was worried the spots wouldn’t sell. Or, did I want to have a conversation with my husband that I wanted to wait on looking for a house?
As I utilized the tools I offer to my clients of tuning into my own guidance system, I felt deeply, as many times as I asked, that the right answer was to do both.
I decided to commit to the retreat and trusted that when the time was right to purchase a home we would have all the resources we needed to do so.
I doubled down on my confidence in myself and my faith in a supportive universe.
Here’s the amazing thing: the retreat sold out in FIVE DAYS. Even now I have never heard of that happening before! And, because I received so much extra income due to it, it made us more attractive first-time home buyers!
Five months later we found our dream home, and the retreat I hosted was truly incredible for everyone involved.
I proved to myself what I am capable of accomplishing when I combine my intuition with inspired action. Now I know that anything is possible!
I also got really clear that hosting spiritual and transformational retreats is an important part of my work. As I look to my next one I’m hosting in Mount Shasta at the end of March, there is not a doubt in my mind that just the right people will be there to experience the magic that wants to come through!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a 3rd generation healer. My mother and grandmother were past life healers and my grandfather was engaged in a well-known channeling group out of Detroit in the 1970s. I grew up receiving Akashic Healing and talking about angels, parallel lives, and the mind-body-spirit connection. I started reading Hay House books in my teen years, and at 19 I started communicating with Spirit (High Self, Holy Spirit) myself.
I never in a million years thought I would do this sort of work as a profession, but like for most of us, my life took a left-hand turn. From the time I was 5 years old I wanted to be an actor. I started booking work as a child, and then as I got older I trained and studied at prestigious programs. There wasn’t a question in my mind that this was my calling, my gift, and my purpose.
But then….I graduated from college and it took ten years, but ultimately I had to concede that the life wasn’t one in which I could feel empowered and authentic.
I decided to start again. I had no idea what to do or how I would earn money….and then it all rushed in. I realized how much JOY I received from talking about spirituality and helping people in these realms!
I opened my business as an energy healer for people and animals in 2019, and by 2020 everything picked up steam.
My psychic gifts came online in a big way, and I started combining my understanding of energy as a Reiki Master with my ability to access past lives. I realized I was helping people uncover their soul’s mission, reprogram subconscious beliefs, heal trauma, launch their businesses, and open up to their own intuitive gifts. I watched with awe as my clients were magnetizing community, health, and partnership – all things that had eluded them for years!
I had no idea what I was creating at the time, but now I have clients across the globe from all different backgrounds. People find me when they feel they require support that traditional therapy can’t provide, when are ready to transmute money blocks for good, when they want to set stronger boundaries, adopt harmonious habits, align with soul purpose, and experience more LIGHTNESS in their everyday lives.
I am able to take spiritual subjects and make them accessible. I have experienced loneliness, depression, poverty, chronic pain, substance abuse, and disordered eating in this lifetime – I hold space and empathy for ANYTHING my clients might have undergone.
I am most proud that creating community was important to me. It became apparent early on that my clients were experiencing radical awakenings and had no one other than me to talk to about it. I knew I had to create spaces for my clients to meet each other. I have done that through my monthly Cosmic Joy Club, my free group on Mighty Networks, and my in-person retreats. I have watched so many true friendships blossom! And I’ve watched several of my clients go off to create their own sacred communities, which just fills my heart to the brim!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
There are a lot of different beliefs and subsections under the umbrella of the spiritual community. I have watched other healers and leaders change drastically change their messaging in order to appeal to a wider audience. I have never done that. I have always stayed true to my values, and I have always expressed them openly.
My mission is an extension of my integrity as a human, and my clientele respects that in me. I have never been afraid to call out inauthenticity or misinformation in our industry, and the grounded approach I offer really resonates with my following.
I have also been honest and vulnerable as I have gone through my own struggles and challenges. Letting people in to observe how I process in real time and practice what I preach has created deeper layers of trust.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I’ve had to unlearn the lesson that bigger isn’t always better. That more followers, more clients, more opportunities, showing up on more platforms. charging more, isn’t necessarily better.
I integrated a lot of noise from coaches I worked with and coaches I follow, and I had to reprogram all of it. Now I feel really good about the structure of my business and what I charge. I set better boundaries, and the vision for my life is filled with spaciousness and ease. I don’t want to be busy, and I don’t want to overwork. I want any growth to happen at a natural pace without my forcing anything.
I let other people influence what I thought I wanted. Then I aligned with it – hosting multiple retreats, moving forward with every opportunity that came my way, expanding to additional social media sites – and realized it wasn’t a good fit for me. Now I am so much more focused on what feels good to me NOW as opposed to what I think I should want.
But, without that experience, I never would have gained the clarity I have now!
