We were lucky to catch up with Faith Roberts-Graham recently and have shared our conversation below.
Faith, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The inspiration for The Very Hungry Little Girl came after reading Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Dr. Roberts-Graham wanted to introduce healthy foods to students through their literacy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she finally found the time to write the children’s book she had dreamed of for many years. The world shutting down allowed her the opportunity to pursue her passions.
The idea for this business stemmed from Dr. Roberts-Graham’s desire to help children develop healthy eating habits while fostering a love for reading. She envisioned a book that could educate and entertain, making learning about healthy foods an adventure. This passion project turned into a mission to provide children and families with resources that encourage nutritious eating and literacy.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Title: The Very Hungry Little Girl
Synopsis:
This delightful book is a perfect read for elementary students, introducing new foods and healthy eating options in a fun and engaging way.
Late one night, a little girl named LaJoy and her faithful dog, D-O-G, embark on an adventure to their local farmers’ market to find some delicious fruit. LaJoy’s love for fruit is bound to inspire children to explore different kinds of fruits and even make fruit kabobs with their families.
As LaJoy and D-O-G roam through the market, they encounter various vendors who offer them a variety of fresh fruits. LaJoy is thrilled by the assortment and eagerly tastes new flavors, all while D-O-G playfully trots beside her.
The next morning, LaJoy’s mother is perplexed by the sudden abundance of fruit in their home. LaJoy and D-O-G can’t help but laugh, knowing they were the ones responsible for the mysterious fruit delivery.
This charming tale not only entertains but also encourages children to appreciate and enjoy healthy snacks. It’s a story that will keep young readers engaged and entertained, fostering a love for fruit and healthy eating habits.
