We recently connected with Faith Murphy and have shared our conversation below.
Faith, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our mission at Bound By Grace Media (BBG) is to help entrepreneurs and small business owners build their brand and launch their business with a solid strategy and plan. Specifically, we specialize in female entrepreneurs and mothers who are taking those first steps into starting their business.
Right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, I, myself, and my business partners, found ourselves searching for something more in our day to day life. What we were searching for, initially, we did not know yet. We were all mothers in the middle of a pandemic, raising our children and seeking out ways to give and do more. We fell into the world of marketing and graphic design, which led to web design, branding, and so much more. Instantly, a passion was created and we all felt a call from God to pursue it. From three different states, and having never met one another, the three of us took the leap into the business world by ourselves. Strangers, that’s what we were; faith in this purpose, that’s what we had.
During our process of starting a business and pursuing this entrepreneurship dream, we realized that so many other women and mothers had similar dreams of their own, but lacked the knowledge of where to start and how to turn a dream or a business idea into a successful brand and company. We knew that we could take the knowledge that the three of us had and educate and empower other entrepreneurs to take that leap into the business world and help bridge the gap that most often seems far too wide.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Bound By Grace Media is owned and operated by three women who unexpectedly fell in love with all things branding, marketing, graphic and web design. As mothers, we felt strongly about two things, (1) teaching our children to follow their dreams and that they can become anyone and do anything that they set their mind to, and (2) following this for ourselves and leading by example. We jumped into the world of entrepreneurship together and have not looked back since.
At Bound By Grace Media, we provide services for entrepreneurs, business owners, and everyone in between who may be building a brand, starting a business, or just needing a fresh look to their already existing branding. The three of us at BBG, along with each of our unique knowledge and experiences, provide a one-stop shop for clients interested in branding, digital marketing, graphic design and web design. We take the time to truly hear our clients out, focus on their goals and strengths, and who they are looking to attract. Then, we customize a strategic plan just for them.
Our clients feel the support that we provide for them in reaching their goals, as we continue working with them long after their projects are closed out. We feel it makes all the difference when a client can feel the investment that we are making in them, just as they choose to invest in us. At Bound By Grace Media, we want our clients to succeed and to have the tools necessary to feel confident in their branding and strategic plans. And, we make that happen.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Even though we work with all entrepreneurs and business owners, our niche and primary market is rooted in female entrepreneurs who are also mothers. From the very beginning of our brand story, we were open and transparent that we were women of God and wives/ mothers first, then business owners. We knew that we wanted to be real and portray ourselves as we were, and we feel that has made all the difference.
Our market feels our genuine nature and the fact we truly are rooting for their successes. All of our marketing plans are organic and sustainable, never anything that feels robotic or flat. People can tell the difference from a bot and a real life person behind the screen and we aim to really make that experience impressionable. Over 70% of our clients are referrals and repeat customers. So, we will let those numbers speak for themselves.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
We often hear about people’s success stories, but we rarely hear what happens to them once they reach these milestones in their lives.
Life is all about making adjustments to the circumstances around us. It’s also a time for reassessing our goals and ambitions.
As we grow and achieve our goals, it can be hard to figure out what comes next. It is in those moments of uncertainty that we learn more about ourselves than ever before.
I was achieving milestones, milestones I had hoped for my whole life. I was happily married, with a college degree, and we were starting a family. Then, one day, I asked myself, what is next? I “made it,” but did not put much thought into what was to come after that point.
After much reflection, and putting myself out there to new and uncomfortable experiences, I learned more about myself and specifically what brought me true happiness. I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to stay home with my children, but I also realized that it was okay for me to seek something outside of that as well. I never imagined starting my own business, but as the pieces of life came together, I adjusted and welcomed the unknown. It was exciting to pursue something that brought me happiness, purpose, and that challenged me.
Together, let’s celebrate pursuing our dreams, no matter how old we are or which obstacles might stand in our way. If something brings you happiness and joy, then other people should see that reflected outwardly as well. It is okay if those goals change over time; nothing is wrong with pivoting when it comes down to discovering who we are deep down as a person.
