Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Faith Mallory. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Faith thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
Every entrepreneur remembers the moment they earned their first real dollar—not from a friend, family member, or someone cheering from the sidelines, but from someone who simply believed in the work. For me, that moment came in the most unexpected but affirming way.
It all started with a classmate who had been quietly following my journey. She shared my Instagram with someone she knew—someone I had never met—who was captivated by how I manipulated tulle in my designs. That one post turned into a conversation. We hopped on a call, talked about her vision, and before I knew it, I was creating my very first pregnancy robe.
It wasn’t just about the fabric or the design—it was the trust she placed in me to bring a deeply personal moment in her life to life through my work. That robe became more than just a garment; it marked the official beginning of my business journey.
I’ll never forget the excitement I felt when that first payment came through. It was proof that my passion had value in the world—that someone saw what I created and said, “Yes, I want that.” It was the first of many, but it will always be the one that meant everything.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, I’m Faith Dionne, a fashion designer and creative director with a deep love for storytelling through design. I got my start like many of us do—curious, inspired, and determined to create something that didn’t exist yet. I studied Fashion Design at SCAD, where I honed my technical skills and creative voice, but it was outside the classroom—working with real people, solving real problems—where I found my purpose.
My brand, Dionne by Faith Dionne, was born out of a desire to celebrate individuals—not just as clients, but as the visionaries, the story-bearers, and the blueprint. I design custom pieces, specializing in transformative, statement-making garments—gowns, robes, and ready-to-wear with movement, emotion, and presence. My work often features intricate draping, bold silhouettes, and rich textures like tulle, satin, and mesh—each telling its own story.
I create for people who are stepping into their power—whether it’s for a maternity shoot, a red carpet, or a once-in-a-lifetime moment. The biggest problem I solve is helping my clients feel seen. Not just dressed, but expressed.
What sets me apart? I listen deeply. Every design is a collaboration between your essence and my eye. I’ve built my brand on trust, artistry, and execution—balancing vision with detail, style with soul.
What I’m most proud of is staying true to me—my voice, my aesthetic, and my values. No matter how big or small the project, I lead with authenticity and create from the heart.
If you’re new here, just know this: I don’t just make clothes. I create moments. And if you’ve got a vision, I’d be honored to help you bring it to life.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Right now, I’m in the midst of a career pivot—one that’s stretching me in ways I didn’t expect. While Dionne by Faith is my baby and something I’ll always nurture and build, I’ve also spent years building a career in fashion behind the scenes. From operations management to technical design to creative freelancing, I’ve worn a lot of hats—and each one taught me something about problem-solving, collaboration, and endurance.
Lately, I’ve been searching for a full-time role that aligns with both my skills and my spirit. And let me tell you—it’s been interesting. From dodging scam job listings to going through round after round of interviews for a single position, the process has tested my patience and my faith. But what’s kept me going is the belief that there’s something real, aligned, and worth the wait on the other side.
This chapter is teaching me to trust the in-between. To stay rooted in my craft, even when the direction shifts. And to remember that resilience isn’t just about pushing through—it’s about staying open, staying honest, and showing up anyway.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely—right now, my biggest goal is to release my second collection this year. It’s more than just a drop; it’s a continuation of the story I’ve been building through Dionne by Faith. Each piece in the collection reflects growth, intention, and a deeper commitment to celebrating individuality through design.
This upcoming release is about pushing my creativity further while staying true to the voice that started it all. I’m excited, a little nervous, and fully committed to making it something that resonates—with my audience, and with myself.
