We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Faith Barker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Faith, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The mission of girls in tech global is to close the gender and salary gap. Girls in Tech Nashville does this by providing a safe community and hosting events to help our members in their career.

Faith, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I found Girls in Tech Nashville after going to Nashville Software School. I was just starting my career in tech. I soon became friends with Jillian Vasquez and learned more about girls in tech. I became a board member and shortly after that I started to train to be a managing director. I ended up going the entrepreneur route and started my ownn video production company called Metazu Studios. I decided to continue running girls in tech Nashville because I remember how scary it was transitioning into tech. I wanted to make a safe place for others while helping them on their journey.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
As the managing director its my job to help them grow professionally. My advice is to get to know your team and figured out there strengths and how you can best help them grow in the board roles.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Girls in Tech Nashville was a start up when I came in as managing director. I learned how to build a board and grow our members all while starting my own business and going through a divorce
