Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Faith Anderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Faith, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Early in my career I knew there was an interest in creative arts, performing music, and being a creative director of some sorts but I was not clear on the path to achievement. Once I secure my first professional singing opportunities I began to learn the ins and outs of how to secure talent, what role management played in ensuring the star talent was satisfied, and what role the support cast played in the overall success of one artist. The support case could span from the receptionist at the office, to the key negotiator with a seat at the table. Learning the craft meant that I would need to learn all roles involved in an artist career and determining what I could bring to the table in addition to what I would need to learn to achieve at the highest levels in entertainment business.
Faith, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
One thing that folks may not know about me is that my first job was at Blockbuster Video in Tulsa, Ok. My father loved movies and this was one of his favorite stores. He asked the manager if they were hiring and in just a few days I had my first job! It was pretty ideal for me to be in that environment. It was an iconic brand, a pretty popular place to be connected to, and a great space for me to grow as a young adult. I was able to keep this job as I finished high school and during my college breaks.
I have always been a fan of what we all see as the end product. New releases were like holidays every Tuesday and Friday. Seeing the behind the scenes of the creative process always sparked a curiosity and also learning the trade secrets of the film industry through a major distributor was equally as compelling to the development of my craft.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Supporting creatives has many forms. It can span from purchasing their products to word of mouth endorsements among family and friends. From my perspective all support is important. The more immediate way that an artist can see your support is through measurement of sales but there’s something to be said about a fan sharing music among family and friends. When you consider what it means to an artist to know that an influential person in your life is recommending their art to someone in close proximity it moves the needle for the artist and leads the way for them to earn more revenue, gain new subscribers, and ultimately identify their tribe.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist or creative is experiencing their art in real time. Creatives are primarily known for what they do but who they are is what makes their art priceless, unforgettable, and legendary. Fans love to see everything in the life of their favorite creative. Documentaries are a great example of creatives peel back the layers of their story that result in art. It allows you to see that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and live on purpose.
