We recently connected with Faid Salmoon and have shared our conversation below.
Faid, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I have been fortunate enough to earn a living from my coaching work, though it wasn’t immediate. My journey in football started aged 4 in the UK, I initially started playing and later coaching whilst at university. I knew from early on that I wanted to take my passion for the sport further, which led me to pursue opportunities with more professional organisations.
It wasn’t smooth from day one; in fact, the early days were about gaining experience, volunteering, and constantly learning from more experienced coaches. A turning point came when I began working with youth academies and started developing more refined coaching methods, which opened doors to higher-profile positions. I later discovered that I have a talent different to others. Eventually, this experience led me to work internationally, where I’ve been able to apply my knowledge at a top-tier level.
If I were to look back and identify milestones, they would include earning my coaching licenses, networking with influential figures in football, and relocating to work in international markets, which gave me exposure to diverse playing styles and management techniques. I think the process could have been expedited if I had earlier recognised the importance of building a personal brand and expanding my international network.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Born in the heart of Baghdad, Iraq, my football journey began when I migrated to the UK as a refugee. Football became my language of expression in a new country. Despite cultural and familial obstacles, my passion for the sport only grew stronger. My coaching philosophy is a testament to resilience and holistic well-being. Having faced personal challenges, I discovered the profound impact of football can have on mental health. Today, I am dedicated to sharing these insights, empowering players globally to excel both on and off the field.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As a female playing sports it has continually been a challenge. As a proud pharmacy graduate, my pharmaceutical knowledge serves as the foundation for my coaching approach, especially in injury prevention and health education in females.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Step 1: Love what you do! When working in patient facing services its vital to enjoy your work so you can provide the best experience for all clients. Typically my clients approach me due to word of mouth recommendations. I believe that I work to provide the best results for my clients and I am honest in the field. Other businesses tend to focus on finances and profits but this has never been the case for me. My priority is to train young talented athletes to allow them to be the best football players in the world and this is evident in all that I do.
