Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Faery Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Faery, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started working in the wedding industry when I was 18, as a cater waiter. At the time, I was in an extremely abusive relationship. One day, I showed up to work with a busted lip and a black eye. The owner of the company saw me and took me under her wing. She taught me the ins and outs of the event world, and in many ways, saved my life.
When she retired to Mexico and I was 23, I found myself figuring things out on my own. I explored a variety of jobs in the wedding industry such as florist, makeup artist, production crew, bridal boutiques gathering pieces of experience from every corner of the industry. 10 days before my 24th birthday, I launched my own business.
The most essential skill I’ve learned is confidence. Being able to walk into a space, hear a concept, and immediately feel get my creativity juices flowing. But if I could go back and do anything differently, I would’ve trusted that gift sooner, instead of silencing my creativity and making myself smaller.
My biggest obstacle, then and now, has been navigating this industry as a Black Indigenous woman. The wedding world is still very white, slim, and straight centered. I’ve had to fight to make space not just for myself, but for the brides who look like me.

Faery, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a bridal stylist based in Pittsburgh and the founder of The Bridal Faery , a wedding wardrobe styling business that centers and celebrates brides who are often overlooked especially Black, Indigenous, plus-size, and queer brides. I got my start at 18 as a cater waiter while surviving an abusive relationship. The woman who hired me saw my potential and taught me the ins and outs of the event world, changing my life.
After gaining experience in florals, makeup, bridal boutiques, and production, I launched my own business just before my 24th birthday. I offer personal shopping, wedding dress consulting, custom accessory curation, fragrance styling, and more.
I’m most proud of the couples I serve. Nearlyweds who didn’t feel seen in a bridal boutique and lit up when they saw themselves styled in something that finally felt right. Nearlyweds who thought they had to shrink themselves literally and emotionally for their big day, but found freedom in working with someone who understood them.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely. My mission is to make sure every nearlywed especially those who are Black, Indigenous, plus-size, queer, or otherwise marginalized feels seen, celebrated, and like themselves on their wedding day. I’m here to disrupt the traditional standards of bridal fashion and replace them with something more inclusive, more honest, and more reflective of real love.
At the core of my creative journey is storytelling through style. I don’t just style outfits I help people tell their story, honor their culture, and express their identity through every detail. I want nearlyweds to feel empowered, beautiful, and held, not pressured to fit into a mold that was never made for them.
This work is personal. It’s about reclaiming space, breaking generational patterns, and making sure no one feels like they have to shrink or hide to be worthy of a wedding celebration. When a nearlywed sees themselves reflected in their look and feels truly at home in it that’s when I know I’m fulfilling my purpose.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best sources of new clients for me have definitely been social media and guerrilla marketing. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok let me showcase not just my work, but my personality, values, and styling process in real time. It helps potential clients get to know me before they even reach out.
On the guerrilla side, I’ve been very hands-on. I’ve done bridal shows, passed out flyers, put up billboards, and collaborated with other wedding vendors at pop-up events and styled shoots. I believe in meeting people where they are and showing up in ways that feel both intentional and unexpected.
