Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Fabiola Masserant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Fabiola, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

I have worked in the beauty and fashion industry for a little over 20 years. For all these years I have realized that even with external beauty up to date, what really counts is the way a person feels. I understood that this feeling of dissatisfaction is completely linked to comparison, generating low self-esteem and blocking self-confidence. Through my personal image consultancy service, I help my client to get to know themselves better, understanding their style and values in order to convey the desired message. When we know who we are, we understand that we are unique and we know what to do. That’s why I can say that this current job of mine has been the most meaningful of my professional career for me. I feel like I live my purpose and transform lives for the better.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m passionate about people, communication and fashion tendency, more specifically, how we can use our personal image for assertive communication. I am Brazilian and have lived outside of Brazil since 2011, I currently live in Michigan but have lived in Italy and Germany before. My degree is in Fashion, Certified Image Consultant and I have been working with beauty and fashion for over 20 years. I started working in the beauty field at a very young age, one of my sisters had a hair salon and I helped her when I wasn’t at school. I am number 4 of 6 women, so when it comes to beauty, it was very strong subject in my house. Since my first job at my sister’s salon and I have been working in the beauty and fashion industry until today.

I believe each of us is a unique being, individually created with extraordinary combinations of beauty, talents and attitudes. In our world, clothing plays a very meaningful role regarding identity, it is a nonverbal way of communication and in many cases it works as a symbol of belonging. Identity is a set of characteristics that can be used to identify a person as themself and no one else and self-knowledge is when we put together self-respect and self-acceptance. This combination will give you your Visual Identity, which is created based on who you have become and on the experiences you have lived, therefore, each of us has our own demands, choices and values and when it comes to identity all these combinations will form individual people. As an image consultant, my goal is to help people to build their visual identity by discovering their unique style and communicate it in a clear and effective way facilitating their everyday life through confidence.

My Image Consulting service is a self-love rescue, I want to awaken in people who seek individuality and freedom. self-care, respect and in a way, live better and make a difference.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

In a world where the way you look is much more important than who you are, my goal is to awaken in people the individuality of each one of us, so we respect for each other. As an image consultant, I have a mission to show as many people as I can that they need to be creative to look like who they really are, because being creative and not caring about rules is having the ability to reveal your real identity without fear of judgement.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

The fashion world has its enemies and most of the time we are considered futile and judgmental, but even when working with personal image, I have the reputation of being a loving and approachable professional. I am transparent, fair and understanding. I believe that my vast cultural and social exposure makes me open to understanding others, breaking the limiting belief of judgmental fashion, creating a reputation for reliability.
