We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fabio Arauz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fabio below.
Hi Fabio, thanks for joining us today. Often the greatest growth and the biggest wins come right after a defeat. Other times the failure serves as a lesson that’s helpful later in your journey. We’d appreciate if you could open up about a time you’ve failed.
If I think on my career so far, failure seemed to have made a re-occurrence throughout the years. A few are:
– Failed to move to the city I hoped.
– Got to intern in Nashville after initially failing my internship interview but got a second shot. (How do you fail an internship interview? LOL)
– Moved to Pensacola, Florida and could not find work in Audio for a while.
The list is much bigger unfortunately and some I’m too embarrassed to share but somehow I don’t think I would change anything. Most of the failures made me try ten times as hard to never let it happen again and that determination has gotten me in some cool places, around cool people, working for a great studio and owning my own Recording Studio.

Fabio, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Fabio, native of Panamá and raised in South Mississippi! The area I grew up in (Hattiesburg, MS) had a lot of influence in my music taste which eventually led me into pursuing music more seriously. With little resources there in the creative field, my wife and I packed up and moved to Arizona for me to attend a trade school that I found for Audio called The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS).
My time at CRAS, opened my eyes not only to the capabilities of audio, but different fields in audio and the seriousness of the trade. Our instructors worked on some of my favorite records growing up, and seeing their demeanor and how they handled their trade with such passion really made me start seeing it from a different perspective. This pushed me to want to know the “professional” side and to start my own studio where I can help and teach others to feel some of the same eye opening experiences that I had. Whether it’s for an up and coming engineer or artists getting to feel what a professional studio environment is like.
At Fresco Recording, our target lately has been recording, mixing and mastering for Hip-Hop artists, bands (from multi genres) and Voice Overs.
Owning a business is an accomplishment enough but when I really saw my dream come to life was when we got to work with some well known musical artists and voice over artists. There’s nothing like seeing your business cater to people you never thought would use your services.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We tend to rely heavier on Facebook and Instagram. When we first started, I had help from a friend who understood social media for business better than I did and she would post and engage with followers or reply to comments on our page to show we acknowledged them while at the same time trying to find/build our “image”. Since- we still try and show our work consistently for those who are potential clients to see that we form great relationships, love what we do and show a fun and friendly environment. We share on our stories very often and make sure to tag and highlight those who we are working close with. Since most of our followers are also artists and creatives, they tend to really enjoy seeing other’s work.
I know this isn’t anything new but my best advice is to stay consistent in posting eye catching content, engage with your audience and keep your business plan in mind as this will help you to find your image faster and stay on track with your target audience.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Art can be controversial, sweet, bitter, loud, calm, bright, dark, abstract or direct. It’s so subjective in a sense that you can do and be whoever or whatever you want. It’s rewarding just being able to do it and it’s a blessing to be able to make a living from it.
