We recently connected with Ezra Flores and have shared our conversation below.
Ezra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Mastery is defined as having a comprehensive knowledge on what your focused on. It’s taken me years to figure out what kind of artist I am. As years passed I started creating visuals of photo shoots, concept videos…wanting to be a creative director! I’ve always been so passionate about creating. But passion alone is not enough. It’s the committing, being consistent in your craft NO MATTER the struggle. Educating yourself and having a deep understanding of what is extremely important in achieving greatness. The reason some people achieve greatness is not only because of their natural talent but because passion is followed by DEDICATION.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I think the one thing I am most proud of is keeping my character the same. No matter how many different energies, personalities I am around I never change who I am for others. The dance industry is tough. People change who they are just to “fit in”
I’d rather stand alone then to fit in.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is witnessing my own growth. I think I can relate with a lot of beautiful humans on this one. You get to see how you progress as a creative. With my craft, it’s not only helped me physically but also mentally. Learning how to control my thought process and really digging deep into how farther I can go with my craft.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
As a Professional Dancer, I never allow people to say that dancing is a hobby for me.
I’ve met non- creatives and creatives who have said those words to me.
I think it hurts me more because I’ve fought so hard to get to where I am today.
Non- creatives live their lives differently than creatives.
I think that no matter the case, we should always respect each others journeys and move with grace.
