We were lucky to catch up with Ezekiel Azonwu recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ezekiel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
When we first started we wanted to curate a space that served content creators with versatile needs. Originally we hoped people could use one space to do many things, however we realized there’s a ceiling to that. Our next step was creating one space with multiple feels. This strategy ensured our guests could not only get the most bang for their buck but that they would have access to multiple well designed sets to make for more use of their content.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started a production company in 2015 that launched various events and tours domestically and globally. While living in Los Angeles, I became more increasingly interested interior design as a personal hobby. When our family moved to Atlanta in 2019, I found my self searching high and low for spaces that could accommodate our promotional efforts for the events we would hold. In 2020 the pandemic hit and my need for these types of spaces was even greater. I booked one location in ATL that helped me realize that it was actually possible to not only bring my personal hobby to life but create opportunities for others to create with it. We started our first location in January of 2021 and the rest was history!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In the 3rd month of starting Veralofts, we were evicted from the location because of the excessive traffic and complaints. While this could’ve discouraged most, we were more encouraged to learn from our mistakes and invest more significantly to ensure we had a more unshakeable business structure,
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Atlanta is such a special place! There are so many young professionals and entrepreneurs who don’t want to cut corners when it comes to presenting themselves in the best way possible. When Veralofts began to catch on for a few, word of mouth made us spread like a wildfire, and pretty soon our sets could be seen in the content of amazing creatives of every tier and level across Atlanta.
