Eyvette , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

As the entrepreneur, founder, owner, creator and visionary of Spicy Mama Spices, Inc, I am extremely dedicated to and passionate about quality ingredients and healthy eating. I indulged in foods from various cultures but found myself craving a spicy kick at times but wasn’t a fan of the vinegar-based hot sauces readily available. My cousin, Dina, then introduced me to Sriracha spicy seasoning which became my go-to at the time for that spiciness I desired. My life partner, Vince, also craved that spicy kick on his food and we both tried various spicy ingredients that only contained salt. We were not satisfied with the heat level and/or flavor. I began to search for other options as I became more conscious about overall salt intake, especially since my partner, Vince, was given a strict no-salt diet. In my research I noticed there wasn’t a salt-free spicy chili pepper spice among the many others, so I decided to create my own and Spicy Mama was born in 2020. Our premium spicy and fiery spice blends are all Salt Free with bold flavors and ultra-heat. We pride ourselves on using minimal ingredients, with no preservatives, no chemicals, and no shelf-stabilizing agents. Our Motto is: IT’S THE SEASON TO BE SPICY!

Eyvette, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m the entrepreneur, founder, owner, creator, and visionary of Spicy Mama Spices, Inc. Spicy Mama Spices are salt-free with flavor and heat. In 2021, Spicy Mama Spices was featured in an online Podcast show called The Honest Hour and was given great reviews. The brand is flourishing, and our products are sold all over the world with thousands of social media followers. We are also in the Walmart marketplace online selling our products. Spicy Mama Spices is driven by the mission of helping people enjoy a bold spicy blend without the salt. Our spice blends will elevate your food to the next level and is a healthy choice to all. Since our founding in 2020, we have been dedicated to offering salt-free spicy products, at the best possible value, delivered with the most convenient experience.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

I prefer both ways. Selling on my own site allows me control by adding content, videos, pictures, and the overall appearance. As we know Walmart prides itself on high-quality, reasonably priced items, which attract a largely budget-conscious, deal-hunting audience. We are pleased to announce that Walmart saw that we are a good fit with big-box retails as we partnered with Walmart. Becoming a big-box supplier is extremely rewarding.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?

I have always been an entrepreneur for decades in other areas benefiting consumers, family, and friends.  Although I had no prior experience in the spicy industry, I was able to use my many skills to pursue a thriving business.  Spicy Mama Spices, Inc. became a business in 2020, created to offer quality ingredients matched with unique flavor profiles.  I’m very satisfied with the growth of my business thus far. We currently offer 5 different salt free blends. Our blends are made with quality chili peppers that are hot in the high scale of Scoville units hot. Heat Level is all the way up! All of them are unique and delicious. In fact, they’re so full of flavor you won’t miss the salt at all! If you can’t decide which flavor you’d like to try – try them all! Our Keep It Hot 5 pack is a game changer. Spicy Mama Spices was created to inspire healthy living, with salt free Spicy blends. They add flavor and heat to a meal. We use no artificial dyes, anti-caking chemicals, preservatives, and no salt. Our blends come in 2 oz glass bottle shakers.
