We were lucky to catch up with Eyram Tsikata recently and have shared our conversation below.

Eyram, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

The name “New Era” is a family legacy. New Era Schools are located in Accra Ghana . The schools were built by my great grandfather and grew to become one of the well known schools in the Greater Accra area with the help of my grandmother. Growing up in the United States ,I wanted to continue the legacy by name my business New Era Entertainment. The start of a New Era !

Eyram, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My Name is Eyram Tsikata. I have a bachelor’s in Sports Management (Leisure and Sports Studies) . While completing my degree, I was accepted into Drexel University 12 credit internship program and that is where I discovered my love for photography. I worked on many marketing projects using photoshop, Adobe as well as live recording, using green screens and taking photos of collegiate athletes. After completing the program and receiving my degree, I continued with photography and marketing with fashion and sports . Sooner than later I began to receive bookings for events , headshots and more . I now specialize in Entertainment focusing on Sports, Fashion, Musicians/Artists, and Events .

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

After graduating, it was difficult to find a career in the sports world. That is when i had to pivot and decided on finding own way into the sports world . Once I started my photography business I have been booked by high school, college and professional athletes .

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I Built my business audience from scratch. I decided to do this because I felt as though people who would want to support and follow will and not force them to . I have separated my personal and business page for organizational purposes. Friends reach out to my personal page while clients reach out to my business page . I don’t have that many followers in my business page yet but know all my followers genuinely support my work.
