We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eyeno Ethio a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Eyeno thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I took really serious in 2014, I would book long hour studio sessions and record any where and any chance I could get . I remember finally releasing on SoundCloud and felt that this was it, but I came to realize I needed to get every where on all platforms and take it up a notch . During that time my music wasn’t where i wanted it to be but it wasn’t bad so I kept developing and by 2019 I compiled and album of everything I made from 2014 to 2019 called “Eyemotional”. I would say its everything every emotion I went through my vulnerability became more known to me being more of singer and a rapper . Early COVID’ time 2020 I had released my self titled album “EYENO“ it’s a album with just everything I became interested in from hard raps to singing and harmonic music . This year I’ve been releasing singles i recently dropped a song AURA and it dives into not letting anyone drain you of who you know you are because everyone has capability and this song expresses that so do not to let male or female put you through that feeling my most upcoming song TTLCO(Til.The.Lights.Come.On) releases on 09/02/22 and I can’t wait for that release I’m hype about and you should as well be . That sums up of my professional start and dedication to my artistic hustle .
Eyeno, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My first step into being a performer with my music started from open mics and doing small put together shows through 2017-2019 any where I could perform I was bound to be there . Once I realized the politics behind doing and hosting shows I stepped back and really thought on how I could provide services to artist and help build my name . I was apart of a company Paradox Productions where I started with a live music review to build a buzz and get to know the local artist coming up . From there I came up with the idea to throw shows and showcase the artist live in person . With the help of others it was good until I walked away from said business . I worked on myself after going through countless hours of building my network and focusing in on me as a musician I knew that I was a valuable asset my expertise in being a host a musician , content creator and being likeable made me believe more into my brand and structure myself as a business man / artist . I’m happy because it sets me apart from a lot of musicians because there always that talk about who’s done what and who’s is the best but in the experiences I’ve had I believe I’m becoming the best for the future face of Austin’s music .
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to inspire everyone that is a musician I love the feeling of giving and helping so I see myself carrying this city to a higher height in terms of what music defines Austin and how it will affect our future in the next decade . I have stepped into a very strong pop culture influence in my music that has that rap / hip hop feel behind it . The journey I’m on there is no destination and I’m here for the ride . What keeps Eyeno Ethio driven is my daughter , my past and my present time in this process as well as the love and support from my city also to see me on ACLs stage to see me headlining SXSW showcases to playing at blues on the green that is what drives me and that’s what will solidify my goal for years to come .
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s almost as you’re a commodity, you’re a resource I can’t explain it but when you put on a show and everyone applauded you the service you provide is remarkable and is rewarding to the audience and you as a artist . My music may have saved , changed and inspired my listeners/audiences life.
