We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eyal Lalkin Segal a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eyal , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Since the pandemic clients are more open to work virtually for their health and fitness. As well as more committed to their health and wellness in their private space. We are also more visible through Zoom and FaceTime visually which in turn creates looking our best at all times.
Social media keeps up connected and visible to the world and health and well-being is trending up.

Eyal , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I grew up in a soccer family my dad was a professional soccer player and my older brother and I played professionally for Hapoel Haifa in Israel. I had a bad ankle injury at the beginning of my career and couldn’t pursue it anymore so I switched to marketing and advertisement and worked as a copywriter while exploring my creativity and understanding of the mind of my potential future clients. I worked in that industry for several years and played sport and exercised recreationally but my love for the fitness industry brought me back to it. After accomplishing all my academics requirements I was ready to fully commit to my passion. Sports and fitness.
I was training at the gym in the mornings and coaching soccer in the afternoons in Israel and move to the US in 2004
Taking my daughter to a kids soccer practice the first time was so chaotic that I decided to start my own program where I focus on fundamentals and personal attention to young kids in developing love for the sport and also practicing patience, personal expression and creativity in a structured environment.
I worked with several hundred kids in introducing soccer and also creating a better level of communication between parents and the kids and their teammates.
Our experiences makes us who we are.
A positive experience can affect us for a lifetime. If we succeeded or came short of success it affects both of our mental and physical state. I always try to put my clients on path to success and create positive experiences throughout the process.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I moved to the US in 2004 from Israel for school and work. I supported my wife through law school and was working 3 jobs in the fitness and sports industry(soccer coach, personal trainer and kids program coordinator). I started working at a national chain gym and after a weekend workshop with the regional manager I was promoted to a manager position based on my credentials and my passion for the industry. Overcoming language and cultural differences and raising 3 kids in between I always found a way to increase my knowledge and keep up with all the trends in the industry(weightlifting, Crossfit, TRX, Pilates and Catchball ). I have experienced some serious injuries playing soccer and had an ankle replacement two years ago but I keep myself active and look for different ways to challenge my physical and mental strength.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Fitness has always been a journey and I meet my clients on different crossroads. Whether it’s starting a path or continuing it we always assess the goals and set our short and long term goals and strive to achieve them.
Being a good listener on some days but also reading the energy and mood can set up the tone for the day. Even a short term goal can have a long lasting effect. I keep in touch with most of my clients throughout the years even if we don’t meet on a weekly basis. As long as We created trust I can always give advice or motivate them and help at any part of the journey. trust creates loyalty and I do everything to earn their trust.
