We recently connected with Extatic Sound and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Extatic thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
Some of the most unexpected problems we face as DJs is dealing with unprofessional promoters within our industry. A lot of promoters do not like to pay full price for our services or pay us if their event wasn’t financially successful.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
We go by the name of Extatic Sound; we are a group of DJs who mostly plays at Caribbean events, but we can be found playing at other events (baby showers, weddings, private parties, etc.) as well. We grew up around music and developed a deep passion for it during our adolescent years. Extatic Sound started with two brothers, DJ Brad and DJ Stretch in July 2019. We added our third partner, King Raj in January 2020, he’s responsible for our media coverage which includes capturing our events via video and pictures; he’s also very instrumental in a lot of the work behind the scenes.
Extatic Sound is different from any other DJs because we can entertain any audience both locally and internationally. Our proudest accomplishment over a three-year period is the ability to travel across the U.S and internationally to do what we love. We have a party every Friday night in South Florida called Seduce Friday Nights and most recently we planned and hosted our first festival on Mother’s Day, The Art of Reggae Music Festival. On July 16th we’ll be celebrating our third anniversary at Club 8IV in Fort Lauderdale.
You can find us on any media platform (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Soundcloud) @ExtaticSound. It is spelled the same on all platforms.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Both of us as DJs started our interest in music at a very young age, we were always with separate DJ groups until 2019 when we decided to join forces on the same team to form Extatic Sound. We realized that when we were both on the same team, we were at our best and had more chemistry working together. Even though we were starting over on our own, we had the formula and the knowledge we needed to be successful as DJs. Even though we are still on our journey to success we are confident that if we stay consistent, we will accomplish our goals.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social Media is an essential tool in any business you decide to own. For us, we try to utilize all social media platforms to our advantage to promote our brand. We are on all social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tik Tok, Soundcloud, YouTube). You have to be able to produce content on all platforms, so it is like a job within itself. Each platform requires a different type of content that will grow your following and clientele. In our field, branding is very important. Most big promoters and companies before they hire you will check to see your social media following and engagements. So we always try to be creative and present on all our social media platforms. In this social media age, it’s “out of sight out of mind” meaning if you are not active in the face of your audience, your business will stay stagnant and not grow to its full potential.
