We recently connected with Ewane Masango and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ewane, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Is risk real? This is a question I’ve asked myself often. Through the vicissitudes of life, I’ve noticed that what we call risk can be considered the natural growth of our destiny. Is it more risky for a mother to have a child or to take a new job? To climb a mountain or drive on the highway? To be optimistic and faithful or be lazy and sit around. It seems to all be perspective. One time I was challenged to attend a dark room retreat. This dark room retreat was one in which you step into a dark room for a week or more and practice ancient techniques like yoga and chi gong throughout the days. The added color came to the story as my partner decided to attend as well. Imagine us not seeing or speaking to one another for the whole week! It was deeper than deep. Every single step around the environment, whether to get food or hydration, felt like a risk of getting lost and not finding the way back to the bed. Through this, we were able to connect deeper with ourselves and life as a whole. Such a one of a kind experience. But would this be riskier that visit indigenous tribes in the middle of nowhere, stay in the slums in Dubai, or visit a village in Africa? I don’t know. But all these felt like destiny. So I continue to take risks and encourage people to expand their perspectives to see that we all have risky lives. Simply by being alive.
Ewane, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Since I was very young, I began to consider what the meaning of life was. I remember one night specifically in which I was asking my mother this, to which I got no response that satisfied me. From then on I began to both question everything and hope that everyone found meaning as well. This led me to everything from being president of my school to moving around the world to becoming a Tao master. I got into business as a teenager. I was in between school, the business, and an emerging popularity that has allowed us to throw amazing events and produce a media brand. We still seek to change the quality of life for everyone. Right now we’re focusing on the medical, lifestyle, and media industries. For anyone who wants to significantly and holistically improve their health and longevity, we have a community that will feel like magic. For anyone who is looking to create media and have that media advertised in transformative events, we have a community that will feel like heaven. It’s s all by design. We seek to live in harmony and abundance with one another. Everything else is extra noise.
How’d you meet your business partner?
Funny enough, we met on set. At a model shoot. We had been cast by a world-renowned artist who was seeking to spread education on historical figures using advanced technology. We were even cast in leadership positions. As a king and queen. King Shaka Zulu and Queen Ya Asantewaa. It was as though something clicked when our eyes connected. It felt like everything changed. We immediately began speaking about big dreams that would take us around the world. I always say that the seed holds the potential and intention of what it grows into. An apple seed doesn’t produce a pear. So whatever potential business partner we come across, we can readily assume that the initial setting and conversation we have is indicative of the future of the relationship, as long as we continue to water and nourish that beginning story.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Im honored 1st and foremost by the question. Because it seems we all have infinite stories of resilience simply by being alive. But one story that comes to mind takes place in a mountain town. That’s where it went down. In a cave. I had to be brave as I dove deeper into the cave. Diving through crevasses to find my way to the other side. I had just made it into another room in the cave when I felt the call to meditate for a moment. So I closed my eyes. As I opened them, all I saw was black. My headlamp had unexpectedly gone out. So there I was. Pitch black. Nowhere to go. So I began to try to find my way out. After hours and hours of fighting, it was obvious that there was no sense of direction. Nowhere to go. So I did what many would do. I began to consider that life might end here. And what would that mean? I proceeded to release whatever ego was attached to the story I believed should happen. I became very present as I lay in this womb of sorts. And this is where I learned how we beings harbor our greatest resilience in our greatest surrender. And I began to sing. I sang my heart out trapped in that dark cave. I sang to sleep. I awoke to a noise. The host of our event contacted someone who happened to be a professional cave diver in the area and they had an intuition about where they could find me. So as my savior slowly wiggled me out and out of the cave, police and friends were waiting. Much more to the story but it showed me how even when faced with death, we can become anti-fragile (great book) and become more open-hearted and resilient.
