We were lucky to catch up with Evian Leigh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Evian, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I love being a model, I get to be creative and love working on my goals. Modeling gave me confidence and made me see what I really looked like. I quit my job as a supervisor at UPS last year and I have no regrets it was the best decision. My modeling career started to grow quick and my mental and emotion health became very good. I had so much time just to work on my goals.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My dream was to be a singer but somehow modeling found me and I just kept doing it and now it is my full-time job. I believe what sets me apart from others is I’m not afraid to be myself, I have a variety of styles and I just have fun and go with the flow. I’m very proud of getting published 36x in one year and currently getting published at least 2x a month. I’m also most proud that my number one fan is my daughter.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
So modeling is just the begining. My next mission is music which I’m in the process of starting. My career goals are to be a singer, open night clubs in major cities, have my own vegan fast food chain. My life goals are to have animal shelters for all animals all over America, adopt teenagers and put them through college, have a nonprofit organization that delivers vegan meals to seniors.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
If you have a dream go after it. Most people will not support you but if you have faith in yourself you can achieve anything no matter what, all you have to do is try and never give up. My family, ex friends, old coworkers, and just people in general would tell me how I’m not tall enough, not pretty enough, body isn’t good enough, etc. And I ignored all them kept going now modeling is my job and I have friends who fully believe in me and became my family.
