Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Everardo Padilla. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Everardo, appreciate you joining us today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
I was working at a corporate gym at the time. I received a client and proceeded with doing the initial consultation. During our discussion she opened up about why she signed up to the gym and wanting to start working with a personal trainer. She had recently gone through a divorce. He ex husband left her for someone younger. On his way out he told her if she ever wanted to find someone again she needed to join a gym and work out. She had tears in her eyes while opening up about this. I knew her “Why” it was my goal to help her achieve her fitness goals, build her confidence, and educate her on living a healthy lifestyle. We started training two days a week, about 6 months into our training she had progressed tremendously. During one of her yearly follow ups they found lumps in each one of her breasts. She had a double mastectomy, went through the whole processes and was cleared. After recovering she came back to me and we started training again. Working on building her strength back up while improving her posture and range of motion in her arms, chest, shoulders. After a few months she was back to lifting her normal weight and was even stronger than before. She started to go on dates, found someone and they started to build a relationship. She wrote me cards each month throughout her fitness journey thanking me for helping her. The last card she wrote really stuck with me. She thanked me for helping lose the weight, if she hadn’t they would have never found the lumps in time. It could have been a lot worse for her. The impact this note had on me that day still has the same impact now when I think about it. I am honored to work with individuals and impact their lives for the better. This is what I truly love about the work I do.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Fitness was a career change for me. I worked my way up in luxury retail with top named companies and saw myself in corporate at some point in life. I didn’t feel fulfilled, challenged, or that I was living out my purpose.
I have always been into working out and taking care of my health. I wanted to help others do the same. I did my research, took the proper steps into getting certified and then I applied for a position at one of the leading luxury gyms in the nation. There is where I learned how to hone my craft in becoming a true fitness professional not just a personal trainer.
This is what I believe sets me apart from your normal “trainer”. I not only want to impact my clients by decreasing the numbers they see on the scale, I want them to buy into the lifestyle of fitness, health, & wellness. I want them to move well, move efficiently & effectively. Move with out pain, discomfort, or limitations. I’ve worked with a range of clients from young athletes, celebrities, CEO’s, Elders. Each brought forth a different challenge for me to help them work through. Whether is was building confidence, rehab & strengthening a prior/current injury, Body transformations & recomps. Muscle building, marathon training, sports training that includes, golf, football, baseball, volleyball, soccer. You name it, I’ve develop a program that catered to that specific client for their specific goal.
That is what individuals receive when they come work with me. They get a coach that does his best to improve their health, lifestyle, & more recently mental health through creating movement.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What I think helped me build my reputation in the fitness industry is my relentless drive to be successful. There was a time where I couldn’t get a person to do a complimentary sessions with me. I kept learning my craft, getting more and more education and certifications. I found my “niche” and show cased it on all of my social media platforms. Those who know me know I love working with kettlebells, I also help clients build their “glutes”. I have specific clients that come to me for those two things. Learning how to work & incorporate kettlebells into their training & learning how to really grown and develop their legs & glutes.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There are a number of books that have significantly impacted my management, entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy. I read tons. A few that have help are…. Spark, How to win friends & influence people, Sell or be sold. 10x Rule. The richest man in Babylon. Ignite the fire, The Alchemist. Never let go, How to talk to anyone. Extreme ownership.
