We recently connected with Everardo Alcala and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Everardo, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I started playing guitar in February of 2016 and started making beats in the summer of 2020. When it came to guitar I taught myself through YouTube lessons. I learned countless songs from the 70’s and 80’s in my early days of playing until I shifted my attention to the 80’s metal scenes. I had a similar process when it came to making beats. I would listen to my favorite rappers and find videos on the producers behind the songs. I would research the best plug-ins to use and how to fully understand my DAW. I think with my knowledge now if I spent more time learning the basics of mixing I could have saved myself a lot of time in my early production days. So far in my opinion the rhythm behind the riffs I write are very essential to the sound of our band. I didn’t have a lot of obstacles in my journey of starting guitar and making beats other than my own mindset. It came to a point where I had to decide if I really wanted success the more I repeat my craft the better I’ll become in a healthy, steady process.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
For anyone who hasn’t heard of me before, I’m Everardo Alcala and I’m a guitarist in heavy metal band FØXX and a beat producer. I started my journey in music simply for inspiration and wanting to do the same things I see my hero’s do. The band is still in very early stages but I’m proud of the progress we’ve made with original songs and covers. We’re in the process of getting our first show booked to start our journey. I’m very proud of my style of production and how my debut beat “27” has gotten over Fourteen Thousand streams.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
What’s so rewarding about being a music artist is hearing peoples reactions to my work. I love seeing my friends make a face and head bang when we play a certain song or get to their favorite section of a song. Seeing that my work can make people feel emotions of every kind is the best part of making music.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I just love sharing my craft and interest with the world. If we ever get to tour the world I’d love to explore and see what everything has to offer and get inspired to do new things. Helping people with the message in our music is another goal I have. Whether it’s simply feeling good from the vibe of the music or the message in the lyrics, knowing our music made a difference is a big goal of mine.
