We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Evelyn Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Evelyn, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Absolutely! At Command Staging and Design, our mission is simple: to create beautiful, functional spaces that inspire confidence and help homes sell faster or feel more like home. Whether we’re staging for a quick sale or redesigning a lived-in space, our goal is to elevate how people experience their environment.
But the real why behind our mission runs deeper than throw pillows and paint swatches.
This business was born out of a love for transformation, not just of spaces, but of lives. I’ve seen firsthand how a thoughtfully designed home can change someone’s mood, boost their confidence, or help them close a major chapter by finally selling their home. There’s something incredibly powerful about walking into a space and instantly feeling at ease, energized, or just home. That’s the experience I aim to create for every client.
I started this company to bridge that emotional and visual gap to help sellers get top dollar, and to help everyday people fall in love with their homes again. Whether you’re prepping for the market or simply craving a fresh, functional space, I believe design should feel accessible, customized, and transformational.
That’s what drives us every day, turning houses into showstoppers and rooms into sanctuaries.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Evelyn Williams, the founder of Command Staging and Design, where we specialize in home staging, interior decorating, and redesign services that are both stylish and strategic. Based in Metro Atlanta, I work with homeowners, real estate agents, and busy professionals who want their spaces to shine, whether they’re preparing to sell, moving into a new home, or just need a refresh that finally reflects who they are today.
I got into this industry because I’ve always had an eye for design and a heart for transformation. Before starting my business, I worked in corporate environments and wore many hats, but no matter what role I was in, I always found myself rearranging rooms, curating atmospheres, and helping friends and colleagues bring order and beauty to their spaces. What started as a passion quickly became a business when I realized how much value I could bring to homeowners and real estate professionals alike.
At Command Staging and Design, we help clients command attention and create connections through the power of design. For home sellers, that means strategic staging that highlights a home’s best features and helps buyers visualize themselves in the space, which can make a huge difference when it comes to faster sales and better offers. For homeowners who aren’t moving but want to love where they live again, we offer personalized interior decorating and redesign services that blend function with beauty, style with soul.
What sets us apart is our ability to bring out the potential in a space and to make the process stress-free and even fun. We’re not just moving furniture or picking colors; we’re crafting environments that speak to your goals and lifestyle. I approach every project with creativity, empathy, and a commitment to excellence. I listen closely, design thoughtfully, and treat every space, no matter the size or budget, like it’s our next portfolio piece.
I’m most proud of the moments when clients walk into their transformed space and say, “Wow, this is me.” That spark, that feeling of ease and joy, that’s what we aim to create every single time.
And on a personal note, as a working mom and creative entrepreneur, I understand what it’s like to juggle a busy life while still wanting a space that feels calm, beautiful, and intentional. That’s part of why I do what I do, because I know how much your environment affects your energy, and I’m passionate about helping others feel proud of the place they call home.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand, it’s that we’re here to serve, elevate, and empower through design. Whether you’re getting ready to sell your home or you’re simply tired of living in a space that doesn’t feel finished, we’re here to help you fall in love with your home or help someone else fall in love with it.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Honestly, it’s been a mix of consistency, connection, and results.
What’s helped me build a solid reputation in my market is showing up with intention, not just creatively, but professionally. In an industry where visuals matter, yes, style is important, but what really keeps people coming back or referring others is how you make them feel throughout the process. I treat every client’s space with care, as if it were my own, and I make sure the experience feels easy, personalized, and collaborative.
Word of mouth has played a huge role. Many of my clients have worked with me more than once or have sent friends and family my way. That trust means everything to me. I’ve also built my reputation by being highly responsive, solution-oriented, and transparent. Whether I’m staging a home to sell quickly or redesigning a space to reflect someone’s lifestyle, I take the time to understand the person behind the project, and that personal touch makes a lasting impression.
I also think what sets my business apart and has helped grow my reputation is that I bring a mix of strategy and style. Especially with home staging, I’m not just making things “pretty.” I’m aligning the design with buyer psychology and market trends to help the home sell faster and for more money. Clients appreciate that I understand both the emotional and business side of the process.
Over time, sharing my work on social media and building a strong portfolio has helped reinforce what I do best. But honestly, the real growth has come from staying consistent, treating people well, and letting the results speak for themselves.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I started Command Staging and Design, I didn’t have investors, a huge savings account, or a fancy business loan behind me. I funded this business the way many creative entrepreneurs do by starting small, being resourceful, and reinvesting as I grew.
In the beginning, I used my own money from my day job to purchase the essentials: a few staple inventory pieces, business cards, and materials to build out my brand. I took on small projects that didn’t require a lot of upfront costs, and I let word-of-mouth and hustle do the rest. I also leaned heavily on creativity, finding ways to make spaces look high-end without overspending, which became a signature part of my process and value to clients.
Eventually, as I started booking more clients and gaining momentum, I reinvested every dollar I could back into the business, building inventory, refining my systems, upgrading my tools, and creating a more polished client experience. It’s been a slow and steady climb, but it’s taught me how to run a lean business, stay hands-on, and truly appreciate every opportunity.
As a mom, I’ve had to be especially mindful of budgeting and time. There were moments I had to get really creative, not just in design, but in how I made it all work. But that’s the beauty of building something from the ground up: you learn how to stretch every dollar, every hour, and still show up with excellence.
If I could share one piece of advice with other entrepreneurs starting businesses on a budget, it’s this: Don’t wait until it’s perfect. Start with what you have, where you are, and grow from there. Use your resourcefulness as a superpower, stay consistent, and don’t be afraid to be seen building. You never know who’s watching, and your journey could be the inspiration someone else needs to begin.
