We were lucky to catch up with Evelyn Gutierrez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Evelyn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope the legacy that I leave behind impacts the generation after to accomplish their goals and dreams, live their true authentic life.
Evelyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well my name is Evelyn Gutierrez, born and raised in Laredo Texas. I’m a 24 year old woman in the beauty industry. A professional makeup artist, 9 years in the game. What’s gotten me to the level of determination and somewhat of consistency is my faith and strength to not give up and be an avid learner to this specific field I chose. I chose this path out of passion and seeing my mother be in the beauty industry as well. Having a one to one connection, making someone feel better, sharing insight and advice on how to feel like the best you was something I felt was inspiring and gracious to see it done with other women and men. The type of services I provide, are makeup sessions for any events, 1on1 makeup classes and makeup courses. I like to give quality service to my clients and not only treat you like a star but with genuine respect and kindness as a human. I know what sets me apart is the way I’m open to give to the people that are receiving something from me. I make sure I arrive with the most compassionate, open mind, kind and patient self to be able to connect, understand and let my client feel comfortable in the space that they’re in. It’s like welcoming them with a warm hug and an open heart to who they are. Im very proud of the accomplishments that I’ve made for myself in the industry. I sough out the best makeup artists in the game and learned not only the business aspect but the creative aspect of what the beauty industry is, especially when it comes to makeup artistry. One thing about me is I will continue to show up as a student, share what I know and what I know works best in a simple way but always to know to prioritize your self care so you can show up as the best you to everyone else.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I’d say yes. I’d say a few of many.. how to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie. Another great one is think and grow rich by Charles Duhigg
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’d say my overall life within the past 9 years of my makeup career. From losing it all, to rebuilding myself in a new city, to losing it all again and have to rebuild myself again, starting over, starting fresh, or restarting but rewriting the story of what can I do different now that I’ve learned and experienced this.
