We recently connected with Evelyn Fuson and have shared our conversation below.
Evelyn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Recently I planned to roll out a brand new program that I felt fully aligned with and felt strongly that it was going to be a smashing success! I created the most beautiful trailer that captured the essence and set up a nurture sequence that felt more organic and relational. As I began having enrollment conversations, I was really excited and felt very optimistic, but as we got closer to the launch, I could see that the program would not in fact be taking place in the time span that I was anticipating and especially financially counting on. It was hard to accept at first, but the more that I sat with it, the more I realized that this was another opportunity to grow and learn more about myself and the lessons that are clearly unfolding through it all. That’s the biggest gift of life I think: we are always risking, but through the risk, there’s always a lesson, and that means there’s always a reward!
Evelyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
First things first: I’m just a girl standing in front of my fridge wishing that someone would text me: “Hey, I know this is out of the blue, but I’m going to Fiesta Time, wanna join?!” ‘Cause that’s one of my favorite places to be, sitting across the table from you, eating chips and salsa, laughing about how crazy life can be, crying about that thing that broke your heart, and holding ALL the space for the dreams that are on your heart while we champion you right on into them.
If we’re getting specific, I’m a Spiritual Mentor. My favorite thing is to guide people back to their own internal compass; their heart. I’ve always had a gift for seeing people and their potential beyond their perceived limits. I also love the word “perceived,” because so much of our liberation comes down to simply allowing. Allowing someone to hear, see or know some of the biggest fears or secrets that we are carrying. If we let them, those fears/secrets/unmet or disowned parts of ourselves, are there to be great teachers ushering in a more complete view of who we are and the gift of the life that we’re leading. Most of the time, we’re just too close to our own story or viewpoint and we simply need someone who advocates for and believes in us to identify those pesky blindspots that are creating problems in our lives so that we can reach the goals that we long to reach, the harmony we’re aching to enjoy, and the un-lived life that we might be too afraid to admit we want.
My longing for the world is that we would learn how to love and lead ourselves and give one another the same permission. That we would honor one another in our differences by being curious co-creators; creating deep friendships, investing our lives in multi-faceted communities that nourish and strengthen us, steward the earth and her resources with respect and gratitude and that we would learn that we all belong to one another.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My integrity and love for and with people. I honor the commitments I make, I’m present with the people that I engage with, and I’m always looking for ways that honor and see people. That might also come down to kindness :) Ultimately I always desire to leave people in a better mood than when I found them.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Being. Myself. Something that I’ve really worked hard to do is to remain true to who I am and how I want people to feel when they’re interacting with me or anything that I’ve created, companies I’ve partnered with and so on. Each partnership, collaboration or team that I’ve served on outside of my private clients, has come from being myself. I don’t say that to toot my own horn, I say it to encourage others to shine brightly in who they are! The more that you are willing to show who you truly are, the more you can find clients who resonate with YOU, friendships that you’ve always craved and businesses that you desire to be in relationship with as well.
