We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eve Maret a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eve , thanks for joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I am so grateful that I’ve chosen the path of being creative. There have been times when I’ve questioned whether I should take on a “regular” job, especially when I’ve faced a certain degree of financial instability, however, I know from experience that I cannot be happy or fulfilled if I’m not pouring myself into my creative practices. My soul needs the freedom to create when I feel inspired. Although pursuing my creativity is far less certain than having a regular job, it is most definitely worth the freedom I experience as an artist. My soul is content even though there is far less stability. I wouldn’t want it to be any different. It takes a lot of conviction, delusion, and faith to pursue a path that is not laid out in front of me. I trust that things are unfolding for me in perfect timing, and that if I continue to pursue my dreams and believe in myself, that it will all come together as it’s meant to.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always been a creative spirit that is interested in personal and communal healing, whether that’s through sound healing, performing, or making recordings. The arts and music were birthed out of a need for emotional and spiritual connection, and I firmly believe in the power of sound to have an immediate and healing effect when married with the right intention.
I perform sound baths at treatment facilities, sober living houses, and detox facilities for people who are in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. My intention is to provide a space where people can witness their experience from a place of loving awareness, and where they can rest in a sound that immerses them and nourishes their nervous systems.
Anyone can benefit from the healing properties of sound, whether they are suffering or not – Sound healing makes room for us to show up more authentically in all our relationships, and to experience more joy. I also offer private sound healing sessions, as well as virtual sound healing sessions and tarot readings.
When I’m not doing sound healing, I’m working on creating songs that are cathartic for me and that help me to reveal & heal parts of myself that need attention. I love creating bodies of work that help others tap into uplifting frequencies and emotional experiences.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2016, my dad passed away unexpectedly. It turned my world upside-down. I was 22 and finishing up my last semester of college and dealing with a lot of grief that I didn’t know how to process. I was also struggling with an eating disorder and self-harm. I made the decision to enter treatment and to get the help I knew that I needed. It was very challenging to balance college and treatment on top of the grief I felt, and there were times when I didn’t think I could do it. Fortunately, my desire to be well outweighed my desire to give up, and I graduated from college and treatment in the same week. It was then that I devoted myself to being a musician and pursuing my passions, because I knew that life is precious and it’s my duty to myself and my father to pursue that which matters most to me.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
There is so much that can be done to best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem. Creative works are not just about entertainment – Just like we need teachers and doctors, we need creatives for our society to thrive. This has always been the case. Creatives should not be expected to work for free because the work they do has tremendous value for people on a personal and communal level. The artists in any community are contributing to the culture and enriching the life experience of all who witness their work. Can you imagine a world where the arts didn’t exist? I don’t think we would last long. Society needs to pay artists fairly for their work, and also offer benefits to the businesses that give them a platform.
