We were lucky to catch up with Eve Gurbazar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Eve, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Absolutely. One of the biggest shifts in the nail industry over the last decade is the way people now seek more personalized and intentional experiences. At Eve’s Space, we’ve leaned into that shift by creating a luxury, speakeasy-style nail studio tucked inside a historic building in downtown Los Angeles. Instead of the traditional walk-in, high-traffic salon, we offer a quiet, private, one-on-one experience — something many clients deeply value in today’s fast-paced world.
Our space isn’t just about beautiful nails (though we deliver that too!) — it’s about how we deliver them. We’ve stepped away from the hustle of ground-floor salons and created something more intimate and sacred. Located inside a historical unit on the 8th floor, it feels like a hidden retreat where clients can unwind, feel safe, and be seen. Cleanliness, precision, and emotional connection are central to everything we do — no rushed services or assembly-line feelings.
This approach has not only built trust but also allowed us to attract clients who appreciate craftsmanship and care. I believe there’s room for all styles in this industry — from high-volume salons to quiet boutique studios — and what makes Eve’s Space different is that we offer beauty with boundaries, luxury with heart, and a space that respects both the craft and the client.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Eve, and I’m the founder of Eve’s Space, a boutique nail studio tucked inside one of downtown Los Angeles’ most iconic historical buildings. I’ve been in the nail industry for over 12 years, starting as a technician and eventually managing multiple chain salons before opening my own space in 2020. After years of fast-paced, high-turnover salon work, I craved something more meaningful — for both myself and the clients I served. That’s how Eve’s Space was born.
What sets my studio apart is the experience we offer. It’s not just about nails — it’s about care, connection, and intentional service. My clients aren’t rushed in and out. They’re welcomed into a calm, private environment where the focus is on quality, cleanliness, and personalized attention. From Russian manicures to fungal care, our services are deeply rooted in nail health and long-term results.
One of the things I’m most proud of is our reputation for growing clients’ natural nails to their dream length. Many of our clients first came in with damaged or artificial nails, and through consistent care, we’ve helped them grow strong, healthy nails they once thought were impossible. Seeing that transformation — from artificial to authentically beautiful — is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
I’ve designed Eve’s Space to feel like a hidden retreat — a speakeasy-style sanctuary in the sky, where guests can relax, laugh, vent, or simply sit in peace. We’ve created a space where boundaries are respected, luxury is accessible, and clients leave not only looking good, but feeling seen.
I’m proud that I’ve been able to build this business as a mom, a woman of color, and a solo entrepreneur, and even prouder that I’ve now begun training a team to carry this same standard forward. Whether it’s a bride getting ready for her big day, a senior who hasn’t had their nails done in years, or a professional looking for a break between meetings — Eve’s Space is where care meets craft.
My mission is to make people feel good through beauty, one set of hands at a time.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When the pandemic hit, the entire nail industry came to a standstill. Like many others, I found myself at a crossroads — unsure of what was next, but knowing I couldn’t just wait it out. So I turned my second bedroom into a tiny home nail studio. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was safe, clean, and filled with heart. I carried on with the clients who trusted me, many of whom had been loyal for years. They continued to support me during one of the hardest moments in our industry.
That time taught me so much about resilience. I had to adapt quickly — not just in terms of space, but emotionally, physically, and mentally. I handled every part of the business myself, from scheduling to sanitization to marketing. Eventually, as things stabilized, I was able to move from my second bedroom into a private space inside a beauty collective in downtown LA — and later into my very own studio suite at Eve’s Space. I look back now with so much gratitude, because I didn’t just survive those days — I laid the foundation for something much stronger.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I started my business with zero outside funding — just my skills, hustle, and the support of loyal clients. In the beginning, I worked from my second bedroom, using my personal nail tools, a foldable table, and home lighting. I didn’t wait for the “perfect” setup — I used what I had and focused on providing the best service I could.
I saved every dollar I earned from those early appointments and slowly reinvested into better tools, products, and education. Over time, I built enough of a cushion to move into a small beauty collective space, and later into my dream studio in downtown LA’s historic core.
Every upgrade — from décor to new equipment — was paid for with care and intention. I didn’t rely on loans or outside investors, which gave me the freedom to grow at my own pace and build something that truly reflects my vision. My journey is proof that you don’t need a big budget to build something beautiful — you just need consistency, heart, and a clear purpose.
