Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Evann De-Bose. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Evann, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
The Sweet Evannlution is a unique vegan and allergy friendly bakery based in St. Louis, MO. Our specialty? Your favorite desserts in the form of a cookie! All of our cookies are egg free, dairy free, soy free, and peanut free. We also have several tree nut free friendly and gluten free friendly options. We take pride in baking from scratch and using only 100% natural ingredients. A few of our top-selling cookie flavors are Cinnamon Bundt Cake, Apple Pie, Lemonade, and Strawberries and Cream.
My bakery caters to families with dietary restrictions or common food allergies. Currently, The Sweet Evannlution is solving three problems:
1) Many people have different combinations of allergies which makes it difficult when buying treats from the grocery store or other bakeries.
For example:
Most dairy free or gluten free items contain eggs. Most egg free and dairy free items contain soy.
2) Most allergy friendly desserts lack the texture and flavor of traditional desserts.
3) Most bakeries are not peanut free.
The Sweet Evannlution has treats that almost everyone can enjoy!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a vocalist, actress, arts educator, and baker. Performing has been part of my life as long as I can remember. In 2010, I graduated from Stephens College with a BFA in Theater Arts. Over the past 11 years, I’ve had the privilege of performing and teaching arts education programs with companies such as The Black Rep, Okoboji Summer Theater, Center of Creative Arts (COCA), STAGES St. Louis, Missouri Historical Society, St. Louis Public Library, and many more. That’s a little bit about my background as an artist and educator.
My journey as an allergy-friendly baker started in 2018 when I adopted a vegan lifestyle to improve my health. I was super excited to try all things vegan!
Unfortunately, at the beginning of my journey, most vegan purchases and dining experiences were quite mediocre. To stick with my new lifestyle, I needed to learn to create tasty vegan meals at home. During the pandemic of 2020, I spent a lot of time experimenting in my plant-based kitchen. After discovering a mouth-watering cookie recipe, I posted on social media just to share my excitement. Surprisingly, several people expressed interest in purchasing them. I had not planned on selling cookies, but why not? And that is how The Sweet Evannlution was born. We are the Home of the Best “Free” Cookies You’ve Ever Tasted! Check us out!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
