We were lucky to catch up with Evan Millárd recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Evan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. f you needed to find a key partner or facility – how did you find them, what was the process of striking a deal like and what would you do differently knowing what you know now?
Finding key partners for projects is crucial to the success of my business and how smoothly a project is brought to life! From conception to installation, I relay on tens if not hundreds of manufacturers, vendors, workrooms and tradespeople to bring my vision to life. At the core of these partnerships is the foundation of a great relationship.
Spring of 2023 I had the honor of participating in two showhouses simultaneously. I knew from the start who I wanted to work with on both of these projects. I knew from prior experience that these industry partners offer an amazing selection, unbeatable customer service, and an overall excellent experience. In addition to all of these wonderful things each person I worked with has a heart of gold and to me working with good people is the most rewarding part of my profession.
Evan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Bio – Instilled with a love for creativity from an early age, Evan Millard pursued studies in Graphic Design at Oral Roberts University. Yearning for more within the creative realm, Evan went on to receive his BFA in Interior Design at O’More College of Architecture and Design of Belmont University located in Music City, Nashville, TN.
With luxury residential and commercial design experience in Nashville and Chicago, Evan returned to Music City in ’17 to form Modern Remains with two dear friends. While part of this dynamic design trio, Evan worked with clients from coast to coast, creating environments reflecting his clients & their zeal for life.
Over a decade later, coupling his love for clients and color, Evan debuted his solo career, focusing on creating jewel-box-like experiences that bring joy and excitement to his clients’ lives. Evan is currently designing high-end residential projects in Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Alys Beach, FL, and Chicago, IL.
Evan’s unique style and exceptional designs have been praised across the country. He was honored with an invitation to join the 2023 class of House Beautiful’s Next Wave, a select group of rising-star designers from across the country.

I offer high-end residential and boutique commercial interior design services ranging from single rooms to new construction. Each project brought to life has my signature style and detail incorporated. I would define my aesthetic as

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Available resources are practicing professionals around you. Whether a recent grad, or, just dipping your toe into the world of design, so many around you will share their learnings, resources, and pointers. I remember being nervous and intimidated which at times held me back and prolonged in finding the answer.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn is that there is only one way to solve an obstacle. Many times we are conditioned to think there is only one way to address a particular client’s need or design challenge. In reality, there are many ways to tackle a challenge. Partnering with the right people, being open minded, and trying to see something in a different light has taught me this over the past 12 years.
