Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eva Rivera. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eva, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
During our own home remodel, our long-time family friend and business partner Hank Nick identified the problem with wall framing for inexperienced builders. Wall framing consists of creating a wooden frame or structure for supporting drywall or paneling. The repetitive and tedious task of measuring for support framing every 16 inches or “16 inches on center “was not easy for beginners and the process of examining an “easy” wall framing process began for the Dynamic Framer Inventor Team. The inventors are Guillermo Rivera, a Purdue construction management graduate and Hank Nick an experienced and professional carpenter. Collectively, the inventors dissected multiple problems and developed the idea and minimal viable product (MVP). Within 2 years, the team went from idea to MVP.
Both inventors are existing successful business owners, however bringing a product to life was new for all of us. My educational experience and background is in nursing. Along with my husband, I am also a Purdue Northwest graduate from the Executive MBA program. The business of healthcare and nursing has been my career for the last 25 years. The last 15 years, my nursing specialty has been Case Management. More simply said, case management pertains to the person in charge of problem solving, crisis managing, and bringing resources to patients to help support them in their healthcare needs. While the Dynamic Framer is not a healthcare product, the principles of Case Management were very familiar to me and I leapt into action and decided to find a way to figure how to bring the Dynamic Framer to life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
The Dynamic Framer team were born and raised in the region. The team includes two first-generation Latinos and Italian American. All three are also first-generation business owners. The goal for the Dynamic Framer, is to provide tools for DIY enthusiasts or training carpenters that help reduce errors when using a tape measure. The kit will help build confidence when taking on a DIY home-renovation project. With a growing population interested in DIY projects and a growing desire with females to do more carpentry work themselves, the team identified a need in the market for DIY carpentry templates. We have patented the Dynamic Framer kit to help with wall framing, and plan to add a future DIY-namic accessory tool line that includes templates for curved walls, doors, and windows.
The ultimate goal is to bring the product to market to help consumers “Do It Yourself LIke a Pro, Without the Cost”.
The principles of the Dynamic Framer Team is very similar to my principles in Nursing – Help people by providing them tools to help them do it themselves.

Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses
My husband, business partner, and inventor of the Dynamic Framer is a first generation business owner. We bought Dynamic Heating and Piping, a commercial mechanical construction company in Crestwood Illinois over 9 years ago. We used our savings plus the profits from the sale of my husband’s Star Wars collection to purchase the business. I can remember the day vividly. I was 7 months pregnant with our first son, and we were about to embark in the scariest gamble of our lives.
A Star Wars collector traveled from Tennessee with a moving truck and bought part of a massive Star Wars toy and memorabilia collection that Guillermo had amassed since his early childhood. Thankfully, the business gamble paid off and we used the name “Dynamic Framer” as an extension of Guillermo’s first business for which he is owner and president.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The Region is full of wonderful resources who have mentored, shaped, and supported us in our Dynamic Framer journey. Our story began with an email inquiry to our local Scores Mentor program. That led us to Mont Handley at Purdue Commercialization Manufacturing Excellence Center (CMEC). Mont is an inventor, entrepreneur, and Shark Tank winner. He has been providing invaluable knowledge and has built a community of other entrepreneurs and inventors. Purdue CMEC allowed us to develop our minimal viable product and create a prototype.
Our philosophy is simple and mirrors our personal values. Hard work and resilience with a growth mindset has been what has helped all of us individually as professionals and has brought us to this point in our invention journey.
Robert Kiyosaki’s, Rich Dad Poor Dad and Guy Kawasaki teachings really resonate with the team. Hank, Guillermo, and I are all big dreamers and are not afraid of risk, looking like fools, and learning from others. A theme you hear often from these authors.
