Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eva Mariana Garro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eva Mariana, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
From the time I had my first period at 13 until the age of 24, I suffered from severe Premenstrual Syndrome and Dysmenorrhea (extreme cramps) to the point of having to take arthritis pain pills because regular cramp pills had no effect on me; I even fainted sometimes.
The only response from OB/GYNs was to give me more potent pills or prescribe birth control pills. For some reason, my intuition always told me not to do it. There must be other ways to improve these symptoms and avoid pregnancy without harming my health with synthetic hormones. The combination of pain + my stressful lifestyle in the TV/entertainment industry + my innate curiosity, led me to try the menstrual cup and learn about the Symptothermal Method, which I have been successfully using for almost five years without a single scare of unwanted pregnancy.
There are too many things they don’t teach us about our bodies at home or school. Because our caregivers didn’t know either.
In an intense inner search, I realized that living through this experience was not a coincidence and that my life’s mission is to share all this knowledge and cyclical wisdom to help other women improve their quality of life from their feminine power.
I am convinced that our bodies are wonderful and wise. The menstrual cycle is a vital sign that provides valuable information about our menstrual, hormonal, and reproductive health, which can help us make informed decisions without fear and stress.
Eva Mariana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Eva Mariana Garro, a menstrual educator, counselor, and founder of Havva FEM™, where I specialize in natural fertility and menstrual health. My journey into this field began as a deeply personal one—I’ve always been passionate about understanding the rhythms of the female body and empowering women to reclaim their health through education and natural methods. This led me to become certified in the Symptothermal Method, and eventually, I expanded my expertise with a scientific, holistic, and Ayurvedic approach.
At Havva FEM, we offer a range of services designed to meet women where they are in their fertility journey. These include one-on-one coaching, symptom-thermal method courses, natural family planning workshops, and menstrual health programs. Whether you’re trying to avoid pregnancy naturally, seeking to conceive, or navigating hormonal imbalances like PCOS, I help clients find natural, non-invasive solutions tailored to their unique needs.
What sets Havva FEM apart is our focus on blending science with ancient wisdom. As the only certified expert in natural fertility and menstrual health in South Florida offering a holistic and Ayurvedic approach, we address the root causes of menstrual and reproductive health challenges rather than just masking the symptoms. I also believe in empowering women with knowledge, so education is at the heart of everything we do.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. Through Havva FEM, I’ve had the privilege of guiding women from all over the world to better understand their cycles, advocate for their health, and make informed decisions about their bodies. I’m also proud of our commitment to providing culturally sensitive services in both English and Spanish, making natural fertility education accessible to a wider audience.
For those new to Havva FEM, I want them to know that my brand is about empowering women to live in harmony with their bodies. It’s not just about solving problems but helping women reclaim control over their health in a natural and sustainable way. Whether it’s through courses, coaching, or free resources like our period checklist, we’re here to support women every step of the way.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I was little, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor. That passion for health and the human body stayed with me through high school. However, one day in biology class, we had to dissect a small pig, and in that moment, I realized medicine wasn’t the path for me after all. But my interest in health and the body was still strong, so I decided to pursue biomedical engineering in college. I studied it for almost two years—nearly halfway through the program—when I started to feel like something wasn’t quite right. While I found the subject interesting, I couldn’t picture myself in that career long-term.
I knew I needed to pivot, so I took a completely different route. I switched my major to communications and entertainment business management, which felt like a natural fit because my entire family is involved in the communications industry. It felt like I was moving away from health, but deep down, I always knew I would find a way to combine my two passions.
Today, I get to do just that. Through Havva FEM, I combine my love for health and wellness with my communications background. I’ve had the chance to produce my own content, manage marketing, and build a community—all while focusing on something I truly love: empowering women through health education and natural fertility. Looking back, it’s clear that even though I had to pivot, the path was always there. It just took a different road to get me to where I was meant to be.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I first started building my social media presence, I was much more comfortable behind the camera. The idea of making videos or being in the spotlight felt daunting—I was shy and, without realizing it, afraid of what people would think. But what really helped me overcome that was one simple piece of advice: just start.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that people don’t care if you’re having a bad hair day. They care about authenticity. And while there are other ways to create content that don’t require you to be on camera, I’ve found that showing up personally is much more effective. People connect with you, not just your brand. Stories disappear after 24 hours, and posts can easily get lost in the feed, so there’s no need to take it too seriously. But consistency is key—it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being present.
Over time, I realized that people want to see the behind-the-scenes, especially with purpose-driven businesses. At one point, I thought no one would care about how I track my own cycle or what I eat for lunch, but those ended up being some of my most successful posts! That’s when I realized—share your story, because you never know whose life you might impact with just one post.
Another strategy that helped was engaging with other accounts and always giving my handle at events, whether it was through Facebook groups, WhatsApp chats, or even to my personal account followers. Your audience grows one connection at a time, and with each interaction, you’re building trust and loyalty.
So, if you’re just starting out, my advice is simple: don’t let fear stop you. Be consistent, be real, and don’t worry about the little things like bad hair days. Show up as you are, or if you’re camera-shy, find other creative ways to share your message. But remember, people are most likely to connect with you when you’re being yourself.
