Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to EV Diorr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
EV, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I first started learning how to make beats when I was really young, but I never took it seriously. Later in life a good friend of mine and another artist, producer named “Ishtrumentals” really took the time out to reteach me everything and give me all the tools that I needed to succeed. Having someone who could serve as a mentor and help me when I ran into problems sped up my process significantly. The best way to get better in my opinion is to just work on your craft every single down day. The most important tools are repetition, having an open mind, and studying those who do what you want to do at a high level already. The biggest obstacle that can stand in the way is the frustration during the process. Just trust it and know that with time you’ll improve, don’t let frustration get in the way of you being great. Patience is key.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
If you haven’t heard of me before I go by Diorr. I started off producing rap music, but now I like to describe myself as a creative now. I make music, make beats, take pictures, do videos, and record other artists as well. I think being in multiple creative avenues is what separates me from others. I pride myself in not locking my talents in a box.
What I’m most proud of right now is the Label of Creatives and Artists that I started with my bestfriend Louis, called Everything Vivid (EV). The name Everything Vivid has to do with your vision and seeing things “vividly”. What ever your vision is you just have to believe and see it through. Use your vision to conquer obstacles and see things ahead of time. We’re building our team from the ground up and I’m really proud of everybody in Everything Vivid (EV). In EV we have, producers, artists, videographers, engineers, digital artists, and clothing designers. Whatever you need we we can provide from studio time, cover art, videos, or clothes. I’m proud that we are a well rounded team and I know it’s only up from here.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My only goal throughout my creative journey is to tell my story. I stopped worrying about the opinions of others or trying to please people. I feel like the best work is organic and pure. When you worry about other people it puts a lid on your creativity, or makes you go in the direction of what people are used to in order to please them, which will just make you create what others have already created, Making your work unoriginal and plain. And that won’t get you anywhere so my only goal is to stay true to myself.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being able to leave a legacy. When you create art in any form, you’re making yourself immortal. Whether 1 person likes your work or 1 billion people, your work is going to be out in the universe forever, and that’s significant itself.
