We recently connected with Eunsuh Choi and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eunsuh, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
From a young age, I was drawn to the idea of creating, designing, and expressing myself through art. My earliest memory of this was when I became fascinated with fashion. I remember sitting for hours, crafting intricate dresses for my Barbie dolls without any guidance. It was an intuitive process- I could envision the designs in my head and bring them to life with my hands. This childhood passion for fashion design ignited a desire to pursue a career in design. At that time, I didn’t fully understand the vast world of art, but I knew I wanted to create something beautiful and expressive.
As I grew older, my interest expanded beyond fashion and evolved into a love for form, structure, and the tactile experience of creating art. The transition from fabric to glass came naturally when I discovered the transformative power of working with this medium. Glass allowed me to explore the intersection of art and craftmanship in a new and profound way. That initial spark- creating clothing for dolls-laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for art, and led me to my current path as a glass artist. It was the beginning of realizing that the creative process could be my profession, not just a hobby.

Eunsuh, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Eunsuh Choi, a glass artist currently based in Rochester, NY. My journey into glass art began with a childhood passion for creating, which initially expressed itself through fashion design. As a young girl, I loved making dresses for my Barbie dolls from scratch, without any patterns or assistance. This love for design eventually grew into an interest in art and craftmanship, leading me to discover the unique and intricate world of glass.
Glass as a medium fascinated me because of its fluidity and versatility. I was drawn to the way it could transform from something rigid to something delicate and ethereal. This fascination turned into a calling, and overtime, I developed my own style that blends the architectural structure of glass with organic, nature-inspired forms. My work is deeply influenced by themes of growth, transformation, and resilience-ideas that resonate with the human experience.
The pieces I create are often intricate sculptures and installations that evoke a sense of movement and fragility, yet embody strength. My work is sough after by collectors, galleries, and private clients who are looking for something beyond the ordinary- art that captures emotion, tell a story, and brigs a dynamic presence into a space.
What sets my work apart is the meticulous attention to detail and the use of traditional glass blowing and flameworking techniques combined with a contemporary aesthetic. My goal is to challenge the perception of glass as a medium and push its boundaries in form and expression.
I’m most proud of the way my work has evolved to capture the tension between delicacy and strength. Each piece I create is a reflection of that balance, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see how my art resonated with others on a personal and emotional level.
For potential clients and followers, I want them to know that my work is about more than just creating beautiful objects. It’s about evoking thought, emotion, and connection. My sculptures are intended to spark reflection, to inspire, and to transform the spaces the inhabit. Whether it’s a private commission or a large-scale installation. each piece is crafted with care, passion, and a deep commitment to the art of glassmaking.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to express complex emotions, ideas, and stories through a medium that transcends words. Working with glass allows me to capture the tension between fragility and strength, and to transform something raw into a piece that carries meaning and emotion for both myself and the viewer.
The true reward comes when I see how my work resonates with others-when someone connects with a piece in a way that evokes personal reflection or inspiration. Knowing that my art can spark a feeling, shift a perspective, or create a moment of stillness in someone’s life is incredibly fulfilling. It’s that emotional exchange between creator and audience that makes the journey as an artist so meaningful to me.
Additionally, the process of creating itself is a deeply rewarding experience. Every piece I work on challenges me to explore new techniques, ideas, and forms. There’s always something to learn, and each completed work is a reminder of my growth as an artist.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey is to inspire people to dream boldly about a better future and to pursue those dreams with unwavering determination. Through my art, I aim to remind people that, just like the process of working with glass- where something raw and fragile can be shaped into something strong and beautiful- our dreams, too, can be realized if we are willing to explore every possible path to make them come true.
I want my work to serve as a visual representation of resilience, growth, and transformation. Each piece I create is a reminder that with effort, creativity, and persistence, we can turn even the most delicate ideas or aspirations into something tangible and enduring. Ultimately, I hope my art encourages people to embrace their dreams and take action toward making them a reality, no matter how challenging the journey may seem.
