We recently connected with Eunice Bent and have shared our conversation below.
Eunice, appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
I am deeply committed to serving the Latine community in the Greater Charlotte area, a community that has historically been underserved in the housing market. As someone of Panamanian descent, I have seen how many Latine families face systemic obstacles that make the dream of owning a home seem out of reach. These obstacles include language barriers and a lack of financial guidance tailored to their specific needs.
Understanding these challenges, I have made it my mission to bridge this gap. I provide bilingual services and work with community leaders who are not only fluent in Spanish but also deeply knowledgeable about the cultural nuances that can impact the home-buying process. By working together, we offer educational workshops on financial literacy and home-buying tailored specifically for the Latine community, helping them navigate credit scores, mortgage options, and the importance of building equity through homeownership.
Through these workshops, I have seen how our community has been eager for resources to help them prepare for homeownership. These experiences reaffirmed why my work matters so much. I am dedicated to breaking down barriers and empowering the Latine community to achieve their homeownership dreams.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those who may not have read about me before, my name is Eunice Bent, and I am a realtor in the Greater Charlotte area. Before transitioning into real estate, I was a dedicated teacher. My passion for education and helping others find their path naturally led me to a career in real estate, where I could continue to guide and support people in achieving their dreams, this time by helping them find their perfect home.
My journey into real estate was driven by a desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. I saw how many families faced significant challenges in the home-buying process. With my background in education, I knew I could provide the guidance and support they needed to overcome these obstacles.
As a realtor, I offer a range of services, including helping clients buy and sell homes, navigating mortgage options, and understanding the local housing market. I specialize in providing bilingual services and working with community leaders to offer educational workshops on financial literacy and home-buying. These workshops are tailored specifically to first time buyers, helping them navigate credit scores, mortgage options, and the importance of building equity through homeownership.
One of the key problems I solve for my clients is bridging the gap between them and the resources they need to successfully purchase a home. I work to break down these barriers by providing personalized support and education to empower my clients.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is my commitment to education and community. My background as a teacher gives me a unique perspective and approach to real estate. I am not just selling homes; I am educating and empowering my clients, helping them make informed decisions that will positively impact their lives for years to come.
I am most proud of the impact I have had on the lives of my clients. Seeing families, especially those who once thought homeownership was out of reach, achieve their dreams is incredibly fulfilling. Being a part of their journey in becoming proud homeowners reaffirms why my work matters so much.
The main things I want potential clients to know about me and my work are my dedication to breaking down barriers, my passion for education, and my commitment to empowering our community. I strive to provide a supportive and inclusive experience for all my clients, ensuring they have the knowledge and resources to achieve their homeownership dreams.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that success in real estate was solely about closing deals quickly. Initially, I thought that the faster I could move clients through transactions, the more successful I would be as an agent. However, I quickly learned that this approach didn’t necessarily lead to greater success.
During my first 6 months as a new agent, business was slow, and I faced moments of self-doubt, wondering if I had made the right career choice. However, I made a conscious decision to shift my focus entirely towards serving the community, and that shift brought me a greater sense of fulfillment.
This experience taught me that real estate success isn’t just about closing deals quickly; it’s about building trust, providing exceptional service, and genuinely caring about the client’s journey. I had to unlearn the idea that speed equates to success and instead focus on fostering long-term relationships based on understanding and support. This shift in perspective has ultimately made me a more effective and dedicated realtor.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been connecting with the community in authentic ways. The main reason I pivoted my career to real estate is because I am passionate about helping people. I strive to connect with people as much as possible through workshops, seminars, and providing educational material to those with questions. By offering these resources, I empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about homeownership.
One thing I always tell people I meet is that it’s okay if they aren’t ready to buy now. I am here for the long run and will be a part of their journey for however long it takes. My goal is to build lasting relationships based on trust and support, ensuring that when they are ready, they have all the tools and information they need to succeed. This approach not only helps my clients feel more confident but also strengthens our community as a whole.
