We were lucky to catch up with Eugene O’Neil recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Eugene thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Finding what your passionate about and stay consistent at it.
I started my journey on instagram where I would create music daily and share it. I did that for a year and it took my career to a whole new level.
Eugene, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the music industry when I was 17yrs old. It was more of a hobby until I bought my first piece of equipment (the MPC 1000) when I was 19.
I created my first album at 20, from then went on to get my engineering certification from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Ca at the age of 22.
Ive gone on to work with independent and major artists from Noa James, Curtiss King ,Cali Smoove, Big Pooh and countless others.
Through all of this I have been able to establish a social media presence through my music with consistent content and undeniable art which has allowed me to create freely.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In the music industry these days its not about just the art fans want to see the whole process of it all. There’s always a story to tell when creating and in this social media driven time the best way to display that is through visual content and thats what I had to learn in order to succeed in the industry of today. If you can’t pivot and adjust to the times its going to be extremely hard to be successful in this business.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Telling my story during the creative process. My followers want to know how I create the way that I do and what was the reason behind it so what better way to do it than going live on Ig or YouTube so everyone can experience in the moment, thats been the most effective strategy to grow in my case
