Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eugene Drake. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eugene, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope I can leave a message to new generations of filmmakers to stick to what’s really important. The story, and how we, as storytellers, can have the power to shape the way our clients remember the day they invited us in. Listen to your clients, build a relationship and care about their stories, respect the craft and be intentional in the process.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are a small team of passionate storytellers focused on bringing to life the good moments and beautiful feelings through our lenses. We think that is very true when they say that no one looks back on their life and remembers the nights they got plenty of sleep. So we took that as a message, and it translates to what we do. A work full of energy and all the feels, an emotional journey. We craft every project with the dedication and love it deserves, our team cares about what these films and photos will represent in the future for our couples so we don’t take things for granted.
We started our discipline with a simple approach: we’re handcrafted storytellers. We’re intentional about getting to know our clients genuinely so that we can tell their stories better. We’re most interested in exposing the beautiful light of the real, deep moments and emotions our clients experience in the moments that they’ve invited us in. Along with capturing narrative as their story unfolds, while creating art along the way.
It’s an experience, not just a service. We think it’s all about clicking with the people, not just with the camera.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being intentional and listening to people.
In today’s world is very easy to find cookie-cutter formulas that will “fit all sizes”, and I feel the world is missing some personal touch. So we decided to always be true to ourselves and our principles, we’re lovers and dreamers, and we make sure we represent that in every aspect of our lives.
We care about human relationships and real connections, it didn’t start as a love for the money but a love for people and stories, then it became a business and always keeping it real to our message.
We’re not meant for everyone, but only for people that care about how they wanna transcend their message and their story in time.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Yes! Lately, I’ve been digging some powerful audiobooks and podcasts that have been helping navigate thought times where we’ve felt lost and overwhelmed.
One book I can recommend forever is “Atomic Habits” by James Clea. A super powerful and easy-to-digest guide to help you build better habits in life and work by just making tiny changes every day.
Atomic Habits will reshape the way you think about progress and success, and give you the tools and strategies you need to transform your habits, changing old bad ones and creating new better ones.
And a podcast that I also recommend is “The Bruce Lee Podcast” where Bruce Lee’s daughter Shannon Lee, engages in conversation with special guests from all walks of life about their approach to living life fluidly and the wisdom they have gained along the way. Following the legacy of her father and his way of living life and interacting with the world.
