Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ethan Strait. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ethan, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think to be successful it mostly takes time. There are special cases of overnight success but the trick in the end is maintaining longevity. The only way to learn the ins and outs of your business is to grow with it. Make mistakes, adjust, and keep going.
Ethan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’’m a photographer based out of Plano, Texas. I work mainly with other artists around the Dallas area doing portraits, live events, and album artwork. I learned photography by just getting out, meeting new people, and taking photos of the experience along the way. Most of the time clients and I just go for a walk downtown using street lighting and the city as the backdrop. It’s an easy experience and distracts for those that may be camera shy.
I am also one part of Two8 Media Group. The group was created to offer services in photography, videography, and music production under one roof. Putting these together can create a consistent product for artists looking to release an upcoming project. We are most proud of the relationships we’ve built with likeminded individuals around the city and hope to see everyone continue to develop their processes needed to grow.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think shared experiences and common interests is what grew the business in the first place. We all had personal experience in each field and chose to develop those skills together. Once we met with clients, who happen to be other artists, that practice continued. The reputation in the end is just good business.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy has been word of mouth. Treat everybody well and make sure you deliver a solid product consistently. After that repeat.
