Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Fordo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Fordo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

Well before getting into artistry I first started as strictly a producer. Since I was 11 I’ve been making beats on my computer as a hobby but I never told anyone about it. It took until my senior year of high school before I confidently started diving into my music. But I first knew I wanted to pursue being an artist/producer during my freshman year at Belmont University. Being surrounded by other highly talented and like-minded individuals sparked my drive to be who I knew deep down I always wanted to be. After that year it was history.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

My name is Fordo. I am a singer-songwriter-rapper and producer. I got into the music business when I released my first project, IDOLS. It was an EP composed of songs influenced by the artists who shaped me as one myself. Afterward, I began to work and develop my sound to find the artist within myself. To find “Fordo”. Within the years 2020-21, as covid came around, I wrote, recorded, and produced over 400 songs and was eventually recognized by a major record label. The style of music that I write and perform is in the Pop/Rap lane but I produce every genre. I also became an influencer/content creator on TikTok after accumulating over 200k+ followers in January of 2022. Posting remixes to popular and trending songs, and providing creative lyricism to existing hits I began to create a fan base. My ABCDEFU remix to Gayle’s hit “ABCDEFU” became my most popular remix hitting an astounding 5.7 million views and counting. What sets me apart from other artists and producers in the industry is my versatility. Being able to sing, rap, song write, produce, and create content sets me drastically apart from others in the industry who can do one, or maybe a few of these things. The biggest reason why I make music is self-expression. For a long time, I didn’t know how to express my emotions and the experiences I was going through in life until I started writing lyrics. Within my music is my story. So if you’re a fan of my music, you’re a fan of my story, which makes you family. What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My sole creative goal is to share my mind with the world. Music is a way that I am able to interpret, express, and handle my emotions along with life experiences. If that can help the person standing next to me or an individual across the world that’s what keeps me going. I simply seek to do what I love and help people in the process.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

So I began my social media rise through TikTok. For a long time, I didn’t have much of a following and thought I had no direction to where I was going. But one day I decided that I wanted to post remixes on Tiktok of viral trending songs. The first remix I posted was to ABCDEFU by Gayle. With a whopping 800 followers, I didn’t expect much of the video until it went viral overnight soaring to almost 6 million views. I woke up the next morning with 30 thousand followers and by the end of the week hit 100 thousand. Since then I continued the niche and consistently post TikTok remixes, which has helped me grow to hit 200 thousand and counting. My advice for those just starting to build their social media following is just to post! The internet is free to use and global marketing is now at the access of any individual. If you can find your niche and create consistent content that represents you and what you do efficiently, people will notice. Just love what you do and try to put your creative touch on anything you can!
