We were lucky to catch up with Morgan Taplin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Morgan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Your ability to build a team is often a key determinant of your success as a business owner and so we’d love to get a conversation going with successful entrepreneurs like yourself around what your recruiting process was like -especially early on. How did you build your team?
When I started event decorating/planning, I was on my own. After a couple of event bookings, I thought about what I wanted to bring different to the event industry in San Antonio and how my brand would be set apart.
I desired an all-black and female team. I wanted us to be known for more than one service. I wanted to give everyone that became a part of the team a chance to do something they truly enjoyed and/or needed the experience in.
My team has to be willing to build, willing to learn, and passionate about the progression of the brand and themselves and I have been blessed with just that.
We started with five and have decreased to three. The three of us, Tiffane, De’Andreia & I have created an amazing team.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are Eternal Essence Events! We offer event decor, bartending services, event planning, and coordination in San Antonio Texas & surrounding areas.
We simply make sure the process of our client’s event is smooth, whether we are simply decorations or taking control of the event itself.
We are most proud of how we work together as sisters but also as a team to create events our clients will eternally remember and offer services that truly show the essence of how passionate we are!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Although we are fairly new to the scene. we took lots of time working on our branding and our portfolio to create an upstanding reputation in the San Antonio event industry. We are the only Black female team that offers our services in San Antonio, and that sets us apart.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Most of our clientele comes from social media, but together we give them the best experience to spread the word and/or return for their next event.
We match each client with a point of contact that skillsets match with the clients needs to give the client the best expertise. Tiffane & De’Andreia make sure our clients are taken care of in the back end, keeping communication and organization flawless during their event process.
Execution of the event or services comes from us all as a team, to make sure our client’s desires are met all across the board.
