Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to $et The Bar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
$et , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
After graduating college, I immediately went the traditional route and got a job pertaining to my degree. The job was amazing, the people were amazing, but there was still a void inside of me. Although I got my work done and was a stellar employee, I still found myself working on things related to music and the creative world. It wasn’t until I got my first deposit from music and although it was a significantly smaller amount than what I’d normally make with a traditional job, the satisfaction I felt from that deposit was greater than any feeling from getting paid from a traditional job and that’s when I knew working in the creative world was meant for me.

$et , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been around music my whole life as I grew up singing in my church’s choir, killed talent shows in grade school, and landed lead roles in musicals while being in drama clubs as a teen. So it’s no surprise that being a successful music artist became a passion of mine. However, creating a music platform was never in my plans.
Since taking my music career seriously back in 2020, I was always searching for new ways to get my music heard and meet other individuals who shared the same or similar passion as me. Doing so, I found myself performing at local bars/venues and festivals in surrounding cities, where I began to meet other artists and creatives alike. That’s when I was exposed to so much talent in Florida, especially in the central region, and I realized how much talent goes unnoticed.
I quickly learned that , you have to have money to get seen in this game. You have to have the funds to be able to invest in your recognition because everything costs. Promotions, getting on notable platforms, advertising, performing at events/festivals, getting your music played on the radio or in clubs, etc. Everything comes at a price and in reality, the average upcoming artist can’t afford that price. I didn’t realize that I would soon create something to help tackle that problem.
Last December, I was relaxing in the back patio of my home and the random idea to create a music platform popped into my head. A day later, I ordered some backdrops and gathered equipment/materials I already had to bring my random idea to life.
On December 16, 2022, $et The Bar was born. $et The Bar is a play on the phrase “set the bar” or “setting the bar” as the production set was made around the bar area that already existed on the patio and the individuals featured are said to be those setting the bar with their craft.
Since then, we’ve expanded to featuring not only upcoming artists, but upcoming entrepreneurs and other types of creatives worldwide. $et The Bar is an original, completely inclusive, bar-themed music platform that sheds light on upcoming artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives worldwide and we now offer 5 (started as 3) segments in which individuals can be featured through:
happy hour (performance segment), behind the $tick (interview segment), on the fly (freestyle/cipher segment ), long pour (talk show segment) and $trictly business (entrepreneur interview). $et The Bar offers promotion services and other events to help bring the upcoming community together such as shows, mixers, festivals, and more. We’re actually hosting our 1st Annual Mixer Concert this December with many artists and entrepreneurs around Florida to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of $TB
What sets $TB apart from others is just how we operate and the long term goals we not only set for the platform but for the individuals that are featured on the platform as well. $TB is very family oriented and we look for longevity in networking. When individuals come on our platform, most of the time is spent getting to know that individual and and just having a good time with them. We make sure to invite previously featured individuals back to future events to keep relationships fresh and to strengthen the creative community..

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Knowing that upcoming individuals need support from other creative communities is what drives me the most. At the end of each day, everything that is done is for the creative community which is why most times, things are offered for free, events are free of cost to artists/entrepreneurs and their guests, time is spent sharing advice and experiences with individuals, and just going over and beyond with the creative community in mind.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The same support that’s given to the mainstream world, give that to the upcoming world too. Most people in society have friends/family that’s apart of the upcoming creative world but pay them no mind while paying strangers with a little bling all the mind in the world and then some. Support local. Support your friends, support the upcoming creative community because everybody mainstream started where we are.
