Esther, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
Everyday I strive to continuously build my empire. Meaning, I want my clients to enjoy their experience and service they receive. When my legacy comes across someone’s mind, I hope that these things come to surface: joy, top tier customer service, and everlasting positive impact in their heart.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Licensed Esthetician/Celebrity Professional Makeup Artist based out of Mobile, AL.
In the world of beauty, I take pride in educating and pouring knowledge to the community about the importance of skincare and the health of the skin prior to any makeup application.
I’ve been in this industry for over 10 years professionally and I specialize in luxury facials and advanced skincare treatments. In artistry, I specialize in bridal, beauty/glam, fashion editorials, male grooming, film/television makeup applications and so much more.
My passion for artistry goes beyond the surface and started at a very young age. To see my mothers reaction when I completed her makeup after chemo treatments ignited a fire within me that will never go dull. From that moment on, I knew this was my life long calling! The ability to transform my passion into reality is truly what excites me the most!
Born and raised in New York, I’ve been accustomed to working in fast or slow pace settings. I’ve had the opportunity to work for some amazing cosmetic brands such as Lancôme, Chanel and Mac Cosmetics.
I have received the proper training and education in this field. As a celebrity makeup artist, I’ve serviced many clients from all walks of life. I am committed to building trust between the client and myself, as well as ensuring the desired look is executed to perfection.
Some of my greatest accomplishments have been featured in magazines, tv networks and global brands such as Good Morning America, Mobile Bay Magazine, Mobile Bridal Directory, OwletCare, and Voyage Atlanta Magazine!
I believe in bringing out the best in each client that I touch. My brands motto is that beauty already lies within, I’m just polishing the surface.
Entrepreneurship is not easy but it’s for sure rewarding! I took risks in the unknown and just kept praying for it all to work out. That is truly why and how I’m here today.
I think what may set me apart from others is my humility. I really take my artistry and skincare business seriously! It’s hard for me to accept compliments and praise when I’m just still striving to be better in my skill set and knowledge within the industry.
Now, I take pride in my work and I know that my skill is strong, however, I really try to strengthen that daily with every chance that I get. Also, I try to ensure that anyone/everyone who comes in contact with me, leaves with a great experience! I want to bring joy to them! I want my clients/future clients to feel great not only on the surface but also internally! If I can be apart of that with the experience and services I provide, then count me in!!! I naturally love people, so if there’s something I can do to offer my help to other artists and ones in the industry, I don’t mind sharing my knowledge of what I know! I want us all to win! I’m a firm believer that no one can take your gift from you! We may know the same things but operate and pour out what we know in different ways! So sharing what I know, will never take away from my gift and ability!!!
I’m most proud of the fact that I never gave up. All my hard work prior to and now aren’t in vain! I see it just unraveling before my eyes and even when I get weary, the Lord kindly reminds me that his hand is still over my life!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Through the hardships I’ve experienced in life, at 33, you just couldn’t have told me I would be here. I’ve experienced and still am experiencing pain/sorrow from the passing of my parents.
They are the reason, after God, that I even know what resilience looks like!
Both of my parents were from Haiti and when they came to the U.S., they built a life for my sisters and I to enjoy! They were the epitome of love, grace and a strong work ethic.
Running a business and having your love ones pass away is completely hard! To scale it, 0/10! What I’m thankful for is my faith, my sisters, my tribe, and my loyal clientele.
In this journey, I realized it is ok to take a moment for yourself, reset and come back, just don’t give up.
I’m thankful for the passion that I have in what I do. Everyday looks different but my heavenly inspirations (my parents) are my daily reminder to keep going.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped me build my reputation within the market is the positive service experience that I provide.
For nine years, I worked for global brand and I was the Retail Store Manager for this brand called Mac Cosmetics.
Many customers I serviced also were customers that I built relationships with that needed additional services that I provided from my business.
That retention comes from being joyous, ensuring that I meet my clients needs, and consistently providing a positive experience.
