We were lucky to catch up with Esther Deutsch recently and have shared our conversation below.
Esther, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
In reflecting on my professional journey, a pivotal lesson I acquired in a previous role significantly influenced my subsequent career. The realization that the ‘who’ and the ‘why’ carry more weight than the ‘what’ has been transformative. In the early stages of my career, I navigated through approximately five organizations, each tenure shorter than a few months. The common denominator in these transitions was a misalignment with the organizational culture, particularly with my superiors.
Recognizing the importance of values and alignment, I reshaped my approach to job searching when I embarked on my current role. I abandoned the pursuit of an idealized notion of the ‘perfect job’ and instead prioritized finding the right people, a compelling mission, and individuals I could respect and learn from. This shift not only brought fulfillment but also marked a turning point in my career trajectory.
Moreover, adopting this principle has significantly influenced my leadership style. By placing emphasis on the ‘who’ and the ‘why,’ I’ve been able to cultivate high-performing teams and lead transformative programs and organizations. Building on a foundation of shared values and a unified mission, I’ve created environments where team members are not only motivated but are also empowered to contribute their best. This approach has been instrumental in the success of the initiatives I’ve led and has further solidified my belief that prioritizing people and purpose is the cornerstone of sustainable organizational success. A decade later, I can unequivocally attest that this decision was the catalyst for my professional satisfaction and growth.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a passionate individual with a diverse background and a relentless drive for positive impact. Armed with a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in Business, I founded my first nonprofit at 18, sparking a lifelong commitment to community empowerment. I’ve worked with at-risk youth, authored two books on mental wellness and networking, and served as an adjunct professor.
Currently the Operations Manager at RCS Professional Services, a leading IT support company, I thrive in ensuring seamless operations. I also advise at MarketIntent.Ai, an AI company, showcasing my strategic expertise. Alongside Luke, I co-host “In This Together Roundtable” and “Sunset Social,” fostering business relationships.
Volunteering is a passion, especially supporting women in technology. Recognized as a DE&I Top 101 Honoree for 2021-2023, I’ve raised substantial funds for charitable causes and sit on the boards of over three local nonprofits, championing impactful initiatives.
My journey is characterized by a passion for making a positive impact, a commitment to learning and growth, entrepreneurship, and a dedication to empowering communities.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My journey in building a strong reputation within my market has been fueled by a deep passion for community building and an unwavering commitment to unlocking potential. I approach people and projects with a fervent imagination, constantly envisioning what they could become. This stems from my belief that growing individuals is the highest form of art, and it has been a guiding principle that has opened numerous doors for me.
Early in my life, overcoming the challenges of being bullied in school ignited a personal commitment to support the underdog and uplift as many people as possible. This pivotal moment, around the age of 12, fueled a promise to create environments where others could feel safe and supported, especially if I found myself in a position of authority.
I reject the notion that leadership is confined to a job title or reserved for the traditionally successful. Embracing the philosophy that ‘leadership is a stance in the world,’ I believe everyone has the capacity for impactful leadership. It’s embedded in the small gestures, like picking up litter, offering a glass of water, supporting charitable causes on social media, or simply sharing a kind word. Leadership, in essence, is about noticing and caring enough to take action consistently over time, leading to a profound cumulative impact.
Navigating a career in a technology company with a background in interpersonal skills and social work has been a unique journey. Contrary to skepticism, I firmly believe that every environment is conducive to leadership-building and community impact. At RCS Profesional Services, our differentiation in the market is attributed to our unwavering commitment to care and community-building initiatives. In every industry, the power to make a positive impact is not only possible but, in many ways, more essential than ever..
