We were lucky to catch up with Esther Brook recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Esther thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
There are thousands of Home Decor sites to shop from. I like to show my Customer Appreciation with little touches – an alphabet key chain, a makeup utility bag, a note…

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Esther R. Brook, owner of ERB Ent. Corp. (esthersessentialshome.com) an on-line Home Decor Shop.
I recall as a young girl I always loved to rearrange the furnishings in our home, bringing my dad a lot of grief when he returned home from work. Fast forward after several years in a career in the Wholesale Ladies Apparel Industry where color, texture, style, and an appreciation for quality led me to embrace my newfound passion for such aesthetics, I decided to revisit my interest in Interior Design and Decoration. I enrolled in a certificate program at The New School at Parsons.
I launched my online Home Décor shop, esthersessentialshome.com becoming a Small Business owner, offering curated Home Decor items sourced from artisans and manufacturers from around the globe. Each item is personally selected by me, in keeping with my design aesthetic. I offer a wide range of price points and always strive to offer unique and beautiful items. I know there are thousands of Home Decor sites to shop from, so I like to show my Customer Appreciation with little touches – a complimentary alphabet key chain, makeup utility bag, or a note. I hope you will allow esthersessentialshome.com to create an atmosphere of perfect surroundings for you. After all, it’s all in the details!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele so far for my Ecommerce small business is utilizing some of the many social media platforms which exist.
I have social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook, “X”, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. I use Mailchimp for my marketing campaigns, on a weekly basis posting a Newsletter which is called “Hello Wednesday”. In the Newsletter I update my followers, prospective clients, and current clients about everything from what’s trending in Interior Design, Home Decor, or educational post such as the proper height to hang a chandelier, or the different periods of style in design.
Adding “call to action” banners such as pop-ups and sign-up forms on your site are also great ways to encourage visitors to follow you, creating engagement.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A story from my journey which illustrates my resilience Is that I have had to reinvent my business/site a couple times over the few years I have been in business, trying to find the right formula for success. Initially I was fortunate enough to display my Home Decor shop on the Houzz platform when it first launched. My business gained momentum, which was encouraging, then their terms changed and monetarily it did not make sense for my new business. I then decided to go independent which I quickly learned was also like being nonexistent on the worldwide web without costly SEO (search engine optimization). After some research I decided to build my site on a selling platform where the terms were conducive to my newly established business. A year later my site being on the platform of choice, and not seeing the results I expected, about to rethink this journey of entrepreneurship I received an email recently from a major retailer’s Business Development eCommerce Manager inviting my site/product onto their site which is viewed by over 37 million customers daily and whose eCommerce generates over $53 million worth of sales daily, a multi-billion-dollar annual company. My Home Decor products at esthersessentialshome.com may now be shopped on Walmart.com. So, my message here is never give up on your dream, just continue to do what you love, and the rest will fall into place.
