We recently connected with Ester Topulli and have shared our conversation below.
Ester, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think it takes determination and strong will. I think having the love for your business and or craft is what really gives us the drive to work hard to be successful and that’s another thing you need. To work hard because hard work always pays off and it might not be right away but in time you will see the change. You will get closer to your goal.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Ester Topulli and a self taught MUA in Toronto. My journey didn’t start here, I’ve had countless amounts of different jobs wether it was delivering paper to working in clothing stores and or selling door to door. I feel as if I was meant to dip my toes into everything to find what I love and man do I love what I do. I started taking my MUA journey seriously in the summer of 2018. Not only was it incredibly hard to maneuver myself from one job which at the time was photography to an entire different field. It wasn’t cheap either but I felt like it was something I had to do.
My brand is me and I stand for beauty inside and out. Not your toxic beauty standards of women and men. But your true beauty. To make you feel happiest and I’m proud to say I do that now and make people feel empowered.
Dipping into sfx after this was the easiest part. I’ve always had such great fun making my visions come to life no matter how creepy they are!
When I realized that art comes in all forms is when I got to fully experience my own artistic capabilities.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first started working as an MUA I was a single mom supporting myself and my daughter. Doing it all alone and sometimes I would just scream into my pillow because lord was it ever hard, I wanted to quit at times but I am eternally grateful with myself and my decisions to push on. Now I have my own space I work out of. A house and my daughter has everything she needs. It’s moment like these that I really love my resilience and my drive to do better.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The best advice I can give you is to be you and never stop being you!!! Stay consistent in your work and set easy goals for yourself that you can achieve in the short run. Set even bigger goals for yourself that you can work toward during the year but please just never give up. You will get there. Stay persistent.
