We were lucky to catch up with Esosa Edosomwan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Esosa, appreciate you joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Yes, absolutely. There was a specific day that crystallized everything for me and fundamentally changed how I saw my role as a Certified Nutrition Specialist.
I was in my virtual office and I remember breaking down and weeping at my desk. Within the span of 24 hours, I spoke with three different Black women—all strangers to each other, living in different parts of the country—and they were telling me the exact same story. Same age range, same diagnosis, same push toward hysterectomy, same lack of information from their doctors about alternatives or root causes.
The first was a 45-year-old woman who had just been told by her OB-GYN to get a hysterectomy after fibroids were found. She’d gone to the ER with excruciating period pain, and there, a different doctor told her that her uterus and fallopian tubes were actually healthy—she didn’t need a hysterectomy at all. When she came to me, I could hear the shallow breathing of someone in panic mode. I told her to fire her OB-GYN and helped her find resources to locate a doctor who would actually treat her with care.
That same day, another client shared her story of being put on birth control for bad periods as a young woman, which led to a “gang of fibroids and a cyst” in her thirties. After removal, she was put right back on the same synthetic hormones that likely fueled the growth in the first place. The fibroids returned. She had a miscarriage. And through all of it—not one doctor discussed diet or lifestyle changes with her.
Then I woke up the next morning to a 1 a.m. email from a third client: “I found out I have fibroids, and I want to get pregnant soon.”
In that moment, I realized this wasn’t just a health issue—this was an epidemic hiding in plain sight. The pattern was undeniable, and it was devastating. I knew I had to do something more sustainable and impactful.
That’s when my work shifted from just being a nutrition practice to being a mission. I redesigned my approach to focus on holistic hormonal rebalancing and patient education. I realized that my clients weren’t just coming to me for meal plans—they were coming because the medical system had failed them, and they were fighting a war within their wombs with no weapons and no roadmap. And when we began to have success with patients who had fibroids shrink, got rid of heavy bleeding, pain, recovered their periods, or even got pregnant naturally – I began to realize there was a need to scale and reach other women. That’s where my new venture UMI, comes in. Umi is a digital platform that helps women resolve symptoms of hormonal imbalance holistically through our six month clinically proven program, powered by our Agentic AI system and community.
The lesson I took from that moment is this: sometimes your purpose finds you in the repetition of other people’s pain. When you see the same injustice happening over and over, you have a choice—you can look away, or you can become part of the solution. I chose the latter, and it’s changed everything about how I practice and who I fight for.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Esosa Edosomwan, and I’m a Certified Nutrition Specialist, Board Certified Coach, and the founder of Staying Ageless Coaching. I’m also known as “Raw Girl” – because years ago before I became a nutritionist, I was a health blogger and my blog was called Raw Girl in a Toxic World.
How I Got Started
My path into holistic health wasn’t academic at first – it was deeply personal. I battled horrible acne and chronic fatigue for years, and the conventional medical system wasn’t giving me answers. That struggle led me to completely transform my lifestyle and dive into studying holistic health on my own. At one point I became a raw foodist, and within a month my skin had cleared. From then on, my passion for natural healing became so strong that I enrolled in the Master’s program at Maryland University of Integrative Health, where I earned my MS in Nutrition and Integrative Health.
What started as a personal healing journey has now become my life’s work. For the past 16 years, I’ve been helping women reclaim their health and balance their hormones naturally. Although now I believe in bio-individuality and work with the diet I feel is best for each client, I’ve also been plant-based for over 20 years, which deeply informs my approach to nutrition and wellness.
What I Offer
Through Staying Ageless Coaching, I provide personalized holistic consultations and wellness programs designed to support women throughout their entire hormonal life cycle. My signature programs include:
Staying Ageless 30+ – a comprehensive program helping women over 30 achieve optimal health and stay youthful through diet and lifestyle changes.
The Hormone Balancing Academy – focused on helping women naturally balance their hormones and reverse symptoms of horrible periods, fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, PMDD, adenomyosis, and more.
Pregnancy Prep Academy – supporting women preparing for pregnancy or who are already pregnant, with holistic support through every trimester.
I also host the Staying Ageless podcast, where I interview experts and share holistic strategies for lifelong wellness. And I’m the author of several books, including The Acne-Free Diet, Got Veg? How to Thrive on a Plant-Based Diet, and my latest, The Castor Oil Code: Unlocking Womb Wellness & Ageless Beauty with Nature’s Botox.
Problems I Solve
I help women who feel dismissed by traditional healthcare, who are tired of being told their only options are medications or invasive procedures. My clients come to me dealing with issue such as:Hormonal imbalances: PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, PMDD, cystic and hormonal acne, weight loss resistance, prediabetes and diabetes, hypertension, hair loss, gut issues, chronic fatigue, perimenopause, menopause, pregnancy and much more.
Through personalized nutrition plans, targeted supplements, and lifestyle changes, my clients have achieved incredible results: lost hundreds of pounds, healed cystic acne, shrunk fibroids, reversed prediabetes and diabetes, regrown hair, and achieved hormonal balance – all naturally.
What Sets Me Apart
My mission is to create a girlfriend experience in healthcare. Too often, women feel unheard and uncared for in medical settings. I founded Staying Ageless Coaching in 2019 specifically because I recognized this gap in accessible, compassionate, holistic care. What makes my approach unique is that it combines clinical expertise—I’m credentialed as a CNS, BCC, and LDN—with personal experience, having walked the path of chronic illness and healing myself. My practice is also deeply rooted in faith, as I believe in caring for our bodies as temples and seeking God’s wisdom in wellness. Additionally, one of my greatest strengths is cultural competence. As a first-generation Nigerian American, I bring a unique perspective shaped by my heritage and my experiences living and traveling in around 13 countries. This global exposure has given me a deep understanding of cultural diets and how different communities approach food and health. I’m also an expert on African superfoods, which allows me to incorporate ancestral nutrition wisdom into my practice. As a certified minority and woman-owned business, I’m particularly attuned to the distinct challenges women of color face in healthcare, and I’m committed to providing care that honors and respects these diverse experiences. I also work with organizations and companies to boost productivity and performance through wellness initiatives and consultation.
What I’m Most Proud Of
Beyond my own healing journey, I’m most proud of the transformations I’ve witnessed in my clients. Women who’ve been told they’d need surgery for fibroids and avoided it through natural protocols. Women who’ve reversed diabetes. Women who’ve finally healed acne after decades of struggle. These results aren’t just physical – they’re about women reclaiming their power and learning to trust their bodies again.
What I Want You to Know
I believe that women deserve personalized, compassionate care and that natural healing is key to achieving long-term health. You don’t have to accept chronic symptoms as your reality. Healing is closer than you think, and it often starts with the natural tools God has provided – proper nutrition, lifestyle changes, and natural remedies.
Whether you’re dealing with hormonal chaos, chronic conditions, or simply want to age vibrantly and feel your best, our team is here to guide you. Our approach is holistic – addressing body, mind, and spirit – because true wellness requires all three. To learn more, visit stayingagelesscoaching.com or therawgirl.com.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Two books have fundamentally shaped how I approach business and service: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice by Dennis Kimbro.
From Hill’s classic, the concept that resonated most deeply with me was going the extra mile – and more importantly, developing it as a consistent habit rather than an occasional gesture. This single principle has been transformational for my business. It’s what took me from serving one client to hundreds, and it’s what keeps me focused on maintaining a certain standard of service and excellence at Staying Ageless Coaching.
Going the extra mile means I don’t just meet expectations – I anticipate needs, I follow up, I personalize care, I show up fully for every client whether they’re in a premium program or just starting out. It means creating resources my clients didn’t even know they needed. It means being available when it matters most, even when it’s inconvenient.
What I’ve learned about making this a habit is something powerful: even when the people you’re helping don’t pay you back, God Himself will reward you in some way. I’ve seen this play out over and over in my journey. The extra care I’ve poured into clients has come back to me through referrals I never asked for, opportunities I didn’t see coming, and divine connections that moved my business forward in ways I couldn’t have orchestrated myself.
Dennis Kimbro’s Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice was equally impactful because it contextualized these success principles specifically for Black entrepreneurs. It showed me that excellence and going the extra mile aren’t just business strategies – they’re part of our legacy. It reinforced that as a Black woman building a business, my commitment to exceptional service isn’t just about growing my company; it’s about creating a model and opening doors for others who look like me.
These books taught me that true wealth – whether financial, relational, or spiritual – comes from a posture of service and generosity. That philosophy is woven into everything we do at Staying Ageless Coaching, and will also carry over into m y new venture UMI – which literally means “servant.” It’s why we create such comprehensive programs, why we continue to innovate and add value, and why our clients become family. Going the extra mile isn’t a marketing tactic for us – it’s a spiritual discipline that keeps us grounded in our mission to serve and heal.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your firm or practice?
I started Staying Ageless Coaching with nothing but my laptop and one customer. That’s it. No investors, no business loans, no savings account earmarked for entrepreneurship – just a vision, my expertise, and a commitment to excellence.
My funding strategy was simple: deliver exceptional value and let results speak for themselves. I made sure to go the extra mile for that first client, and they became a recurring customer. Their transformation and their testimonial led to the next client, and then the next. Each person I served became both a success story and a foundation for growth. I bootstrapped the entire business by reinvesting revenue back into the company – better programs, more resources, expanded offerings.
This organic, client-funded growth taught me invaluable lessons about sustainability, about the power of word-of-mouth, and about building a business on the solid ground of real results rather than hype. It also kept me deeply connected to my mission. Every dollar earned came directly from a woman whose life I’d helped transform, which meant I never lost sight of who I was serving and why.
The Next Chapter: Scaling with Purpose
Now, for the first time in my entrepreneurial journey, I’m stepping into the world of startups. I’m actively seeking investors through UMI so that we can scale everything we’ve been doing at Staying Ageless Coaching using agentic AI technology.
Here’s why this matters: Every woman everywhere has to go to an OBGYN or receive reproductive care at some point in her life, but it’s high time that what that care looks like begins to change. Right now, the most common medical responses to hormonal imbalances are birth control pills or surgery. These are often Band-Aid solutions that don’t address root causes and can come with serious side effects.
My vision is to offer women worldwide affordable, personalized holistic solutions at scale that actually address the underlying hormonal imbalances – not just mask symptoms. With AI, we can provide the kind of individualized assessment, guidance, and support that’s currently only available through expensive one-on-one coaching. We can democratize access to holistic care. The irony isn’t lost on me: I started with one laptop and one client, building person by person. Now I’m preparing to leverage cutting-edge technology to reach millions. But the heart remains the same – going the extra mile, delivering real results, and giving women the compassionate, comprehensive care they deserve.
