We recently connected with Esmeralda Zavala and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Esmeralda, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

As a small business owner in the photography industry, my goal has always been to capture real, raw, and genuine moments for my clients. We will all look back someday, when we are much older and want to relive certain memories with our loved ones, and those that we hold closest to our hearts. Having the ability to capture these authentic moments for my clients is incredibly special not only, but truly special for them. Since I began my photography career I have been on a mission to provide an experience for all of my clients.

Esmeralda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Hi friends! My name is Esmeralda, I am a 30 year old Colorado Native. I own a wedding & family photography business that I am incredibly proud of. I began my photography career a little over 6 years ago! I grew up being a very creative and artsy individual. Art has always been my passion and my authentic way of expressing myself. I realized my true love for photography when I became a mom. Capturing every moment with my daughter, big or small, has always been something that brings me absolute happiness. I began by capturing the love between families and eventually progressed in my craft and fell in love with documenting love stories. My passion for photography is truly providing a beautiful experience for my clients. I want each and every one of my clients to know just how much I care to capture their true selves sharing moments that they will treasure forever with the people they love most.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

The number one thing that I had to unlearn through photography is that not every moment has to be or in all honesty is going to be picture perfect. For example, I once believed that a posed picture was the only way to go about photography. That is just not the way I want to go with my photography journey. I want to capture the genuine moments for you. I want to capture the smallest details because 10 years from now, I know my clients will look back at a photo and realize how much they just love their significant other/family member was looking into their eyes. These little things are what make documenting lives through photography so special.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

One resource that I appreciate more than anything is the Unscripted App. This resource is truly a blessing to the photography industry. It allows us photographers to learn more about posing prompts for our clients and even allows us to manage our businesses, all in one app!
