Alright, Esmeralda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
One of the scariest thing that has happened to me is starting my business when Covid was just initially starting. I was working for a law firm and during that time I recall looking into classes to learn lashes because that’s what I wanted to do on the side for extra income. I took the courses and 3 months after we get shut down, hours of work were cut and the world was going crazy. I remember panicking because my hours were being cut, I had less money, and I had just paid my courses with the little money I had saved up.
This job and Covid being worldwide taught me a huge lesson such as to never depend on a job because of the fact that at any given situation your hours may be cut, you can be laid off, leaving you with no money in your hands. I remember being so short in money that I will literally penny count every thing to make sure I had enough.
When this was going on I decided to really put in effect doing lashes and began to work doing this part time. I am so grateful that I took this lash class because it allowed me to bring in that income that I was short from my law firm job. After seeing some clients it positioned me and got me to a point where I was making more money working for myself than working for somebody else it was at this point when I decided to go all in into the skill that I paid for to learn. This then allowed me to quitting my job and doing Lashes full-time that later converted into me doing permanent make up and that is what I love doing today.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I first started my Instagram, I remember posting pictures with poor lighting, along with random photos that had nothing to do with the beauty industry—just things I thought were cute and would get attention. However, this wasn’t helping because it wasn’t attracting the right audience. It taught me the importance of ensuring that every post is clear, and professional. If editing is needed, it’s worth doing, as long as it enhances the overall quality and keeps your content aligned with your goals.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of clients for me has been through referrals & also from doing promotions on a service as well as running ads on Facebook. Running ads will help
your business so much because you are targeting a broad clientele not only referrals or people you know.
